I have heard through the grapevine that Pinnacle deals 4 lines. I also remember an old interview by a WWTS guy saying they dealt double lines. What trips me out about BoDog is that I am pretty square and so is my friend. Only difference is that I am about a $200 a game bettor and he bets like $25 a game.
No, I do not find it unethical. I find it to be discriminatory, but it is a business decision. Discrimination on the basis of good business, not on race, gender, etc., is O.K. with me. You see it all the time with stock purchases. If you want to buy several hundred million dollars worth of stock, you can't just call E*Trade and buy it. You have to negotiate a price with the company you are buying stock from. Same basic concept here. One is weeding out sharp investors and one is weeding out sharp gamblers.
Very well said by Nick! As a player - there is not much you can do about it. You can talk to them and mention you are going to leave and take your business elsewhere where you might get that better number once in a while. If you allow them to do it to you it is like an insult to your intelligence.
So if someone checks out a books free lines, likes the dog/under #s, deposits a few 1000 than does not get the same lines after a few bets that is okay?
Dual lines is fine if the book would state so in the rules or upon sign up. If they do not say it is something they do, than yes that is shady.

multiple lines are your best friend. pinnacle used to have many lines, not sure if they still do. imo, wwts does not but post time (owned by wwts) does. tons of others do.
if you can determine they are offering multiples lines and you are not getting the set of lines you want, open multiple accounts. the key to this game is trying to understand how their lines are organized and getting a piece of each line.

In my opinion, this is just like the local bookie, who shades the home team, or gives you a higher price on a team he knows you always bet on.
I used to have a guy who would bet on the Yankees every time they played. If the line was Yankees -170, he would get Yankees -190. I don't see how it's unethical, it is just smart business sense on there part.

I don't think it's unethical *if* they honor the lines they give you. In other words if when I call they give me Dallas +4 I can either accept or decline a bet, it's my choice. What I think is bogus is when they give me a line and once I mention which side I want they then change the line.
Other than that it's just business. If I have a guy who only bets favs and overs he's getting painted with square lines. It's like going in a grocery store, they don't make us buy anything. They tell us what the price is upfront, we buy or we pass. Just don't change the price once I get to the register.

Pinnacle deals one line on the internet(sharperer line) and one line on the phone for their credit players.
If a book deals two lines I feel it is unfair because they get to know your betting pattern and if you a sharp they give you vanilla don best clone lines. Therefore making it a waste and attempt to discourage you for playing with them. What these books don't realize is that it may cost them money in the end because guys like Sick Gambler will just close up and re-open grabbing a bonus and the square lines over and over with various accounts.

Interesting thought Frankie, hope the books are reading this. LOL. Certainly at some of these shops when they profile you as wise you will get the most middle of the road number off the screen they have, the safer the better. However the thing some folks forget is these are private businesses designed to make a profit. Period. As a player I may not like it but they have the right to deal any line they want to anyone, the right to limit anyone's action, and yes even the right to keep anyone from playing there. As long as they pay someone and show them the door they are well within their rights IMO. Our rights as players are to bet when we want, bet with who we want, bet how much we want, and bet on what we want. Sure it would be nice if we could make them give everyone the same price but you are dreaming if you think this will ever happen. Cheaters was right, don't like it there find a new shop.
