It's time for the one day a year when I miss my family most of all. (parents deceased and I'm single) For some reason Thanksgiving is worse than Christmas. Maybe Christmas with all the parties and gifts takes my mind off of having no immediate family. On Thanksgiving I always have plenty of invitations for dinner but not having a family of my own just isn't the same. I would like to have a tradition of some sort to make Thanksgiving as much fun as it appears to be for everyone. I don't even have a traditional football game to attend as neither my old high school or college play on Thanksgiving. When I go with friends to their games I see the passion but piggy backing isn't as good. I remember my childhood traditions and family dinners. Someday I will have a new family with new traditions and it will be all good. For now I hope everyone that has family and traditions appreciates the value and enjoys the day.

Make me jealous and share your holiday traditions here. I enjoy hearing about the fun and happiness.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and many more!

I eat until I hate myself, then drink until I'm not worried about it. Oh and I also watch football all day.

Now that I am older and moved away from my hometown, Thanksgiving is much different than it was when I was growing up and lived back in RI. But when I was younger and living there it was pretty much the same thing every Thanksgiving. Go to the annual high school football game(Westerly,RI/Stonington,Ct, one of the oldest high school rivalry's in terms of games played in country) at 10am, be at one of the aunts house for dinner by 1pm. Eat until we are stuffed, watch NFL football, eat more turkey, drink more beer and usually ended up playing poker by nights end. Was usually about 25-30 people at our Thanksgiving get togethers. Fun times and always been my favorite holiday, once I found out about Santa...

Interesting assortment just don't take tradition for granted.

It turns out I do have tradition, my girlfriend reminded me earlier this evening that we always watch Trains, Planes & Automobiles on Thanksgiving eve. We just got in from happy hour and as soon as our friends get here that's what we'll be doing.

That reminded me of another Thanksgiving tradition that occurs later after the movie. Things are looking better already.

Enjoy your Turkey - And the Football ....... Let's all get lucky!!!!!!
