Jim Edmonds I believe is the best centerfielder in our lifetime. Better than Griffey, better that Andruw Jones, and though I never saw him play I believe he is better defensively than Willie Mays. What a catch to keep this score at 2-0!

Jones makes the hard catches look easy. That isn't a knock against Edmonds just that Jones is amazing in CF. While his name doesn't come up alot Devon White was amazing in CF for the Jays during there World Series Years.

Andrew Jones would not have needed to dive for that ball...he gets to more balls than any other CF in the league.

I remember Devon White when he was a youngster with the Angels. He was amazing...but no one is in Jones' league in my opinion.

Jones Is A Great Centerfielder But He Would Not Of Got To That Ball. He Is Not Known For Hustling And Plays So Shallow He Would Not Have Come Close.

Edmonds is an AWESOME center fielder though and has been great his entire career. Deserved every Gold Glove he has received and makes diving catch after diving catch...he has also robbed more home runs than any player I have ever seen. He makes that look so easy it is amazing.

everything about jones is overrated, also including his offense.

i luv how people like to say without him braves would not have stiffed the play-offs. that is so funny, if jones would have not play a pitch braves still win the division.

it has nothing to do with jones, and his overrated year this year. its about bobby cox.

and if you take puljos and put him on the braves, they win 100 this year.

Agree with this statement. Pujols is beyond good. And he goes about it in the right way. Even as a Cubs fan, I have very high respect for the guy. He should win about 6 MVP's before his time is up.

defense is way, way overrated in baseball. i have yet to see a guy who can hit but can't field very well not be able to play major league baseball. if you can hit the ball every team will find a place for you.

however take the reverse of that, and nobody wants you.

why?

because great offense will produce more than 20x as many runs, as bad defense will give up.

I have a good friend who faced Andy Van Slyke in Pony League, age 14...

Fanned him the first time up.

Second time up, Van Slyke hit one about 50 feet past the center field fence.

My friend went on to become a great financial planner.
