George Bush says that he know's that we fought a just war in Iraq, and that God is on our side!

The next thing you know is that some whacko is on this forum stating that George Bush was told to go to war by God!

Some left wing whacko makes a fake "documentary" where he twists the facts of the 911 attack into a parody of the truth, and next thing is, you read some extremist whacko on this forum rambling on, using the points from this mockumentary as though they are the truth, and not a twisted lie.

Some extremist web site comes out with a list of near truths, inuendos, and lies, and the next thing you know, some idiot is posting it on this forum and quoting it as though it were the truth.

I've seen a few posters on this site who don't resort to bashing, although they clearly state their postions as opposing Bush; to them I doff my hat!

To those people who can find nothing positive to say about their man, who do nothing but bash Bush, I say "Get a life".

Quit being such pessimists, you'll live a happier, longer life. He's the president now, and he could be the president again!

If you don't like it, well....... you can move to Canada or France!

Fahrenheit 9/11 having no effect on voters – survey
24 July 2004

LOS ANGELES: If Michael Moore had hoped that his biting documentary critique of the Bush administration might turn the tide of the upcoming US presidential race, he may have to settle instead for the film's box-office success.

A Los Angeles Times poll of likely voters published on Friday showed that Fahrenheit 9/11 is drawing an overwhelmingly Democratic audience and that few Republicans who have seen the movie appear to have been swayed.

The findings support the contention of conservative critics that in terms of its political influence, Fahrenheit 9/11 is unlikely to go beyond preaching to the Democratic faithful.

Just 9 per cent of 1,529 registered voters surveyed nationwide July 17-21 had seen the film, which lambastes President George W. Bush for his response to the September 11, 2001 attacks on America and his reasons for going to war in Iraq, the Times said.

Of those who had seen the movie, 78 per cent identified themselves as Democrats, 9 per cent as political independents and 6 per cent as Republicans, the Times said. Ninety-seven percent said they were planning to vote for presumed Democratic nominee John Kerry.

In addition, 79 per cent of those who had seen Moore's film said it would not change how they vote in November, though 18 per cent said it made them more likely to vote against Bush and 3 per cent said it bolstered their resolve to vote for the president, the newspaper said.

Because only registered voters were surveyed, the poll did not provide any insight as to whether Fahrenheit has encouraged anyone who sat out the last presidential election to sign up to take part in the heated 2004 race.

The film, which won top honours at the Cannes film festival in May, is on its way to crossing the $US100 million mark in US and Canadian box office receipts this weekend, an unprecedented sum for a political documentary.

Moore has said he hopes the film could shape the outcome of the election, but political scientists and campaign strategists have speculated that the movie's most likely effect would be to energize the liberal base of the Democratic Party.

Fortunately the "whackos" on the right and left are a small % of the populous. Most people aren't swayed as easy as internet people

This isn't the first time this phrase has been used by a leader of the free world.

If you think of what the term God means it far from being wacko.
If you believe in defending life.

The distinction from GW and my God is.Our god died for us...where as they kill for their god.

No disagreeing there.

All i know is that GW has made sure that there was a 3 billion dollar contribution to fighting AIDS in Africa....I'm not quite sure what Al Quda has contributed to that cause or exactley how they would handle it...So I think there may be just a little difference in their perception of what God is and means.

Although I have respect for Islam,I have none for AQ.They have nothing to do with Islam or God.To answer your question Pat,they would probably jus kill all Aids sufferers for being infidels and therefore remedy the problem.

That is funny. Michael Moore did not even vote Democratic in the last election. He voted for Nader.
I wonder if he has changed his mind, this coming election.

There is no difference what part of the world or what nationality one is or what religion one endorses when one claims that "God is on our side".....

Once a person or group has made the arrogant, pompous assumption that some God is on thier side then they also consider themselves to be religiously correct in thier actions, and then whatever actions they take are justifiable and correct.

Whenever sound, practical reasoning is thrown aside and overtaken with "God is on our side"...then conduct like wars and murder and any acts one could imagine, like flying planes into skyscrapers can be justified......

Listen to yourself Marco, you're rationalizing President Bush into the same fanaticism as the terrorists: "Whenever sound, rational thinking is thrown aside.."
What's the matter with you? How can you equate the suicide bombing attack that killed three thousand civilians with the moves that this nation has taken to protect itself from continued and worsening attacks.
Disagree with the strategy and policy if you want, but don't mistake it for religious zealotry just because President Bush believes in a higher authority than himself.

That's like saying that a person who swats a fly is a murderer.

bblight.....quoted "Disagree with the strategy and policy if you want, but don't mistake it for religious zealotry just because President Bush believes in a higher authority than himself."

I think at times that President Bush believes HIMSELF to be the highest authority, above whatever gods are believed in.....When Bush states that "god is on our side" I consider him to be grasping at air by making some religious reference to try to justify some fvcked up military campaign in Iraq that had little planning to start, no exit strategy for the end, and currently mired in a useless, aimless abortion called the middle.

Maybe he's just looking to sway the church people into believing in him and his policies and fishing for votes....I'm sure that some of those church people out there are saying "Bush says God is on our side and given the fact that politicians are honest then we'd better support Bush too"....Yeah, right.

If we were going after the terrorists I might agree with his policies.....considering the fact of all this nation rebuilding going on in Iraq, while the terrorists are regrouping and reloading in other places like Afghanistan, leads me to believe this country is not protecting itself from continued and worsening attacks.

History will show that God hasn't lost a major sporting event yet..

..and that anything can be justified, whether right or wrong, by merely stating that "God is on our side".....Hitler probably felt that murdering millions of jews and turning most of Europe into a burned out cemetary was what God really wanted.....
