I have used Western Union for a few years and have been very happy with the service. Recently I lost my preffered customer card and had to get a new one resent to me. While I was on the phone with the rep, she stated that I had accumulated so many points that I could have a free $15 transfer in exchange for 75 points. I had over 600 points...so i wont be paying any fees for a few weeks!!!
I know there are alot of people that use WU and dont know about this. If you have used WU before then you have a preffered card already. All you have to do is write down your telephone number in the space on the form (green or blue) and they can access your info that way. Just thought I would share this with everyone.

Well to each his own. But I can live with them not accessing my information.

I guess if you enjoy paying idiotic fees to send and receive small amounts of money and being rectally searched by some punk with a bolt through his nose and purple hair at the counter when you show up with (gasp!)cash, Western Union is for you!

I have used WU for a variety of reasons though it's obviously not my first choice. I think I have a card too but never use it. Does is have a gold face to it Max? I was told like Ivan it was just for sending they used it, never heard of any rebates.

I've had a WU Preferred Card for a few years now. I haven't had to use it in quite a while but when I was actively using it, the best thing I got out of it was convienence to make wire transfers using a credit card. They keep your credit card on file and it makes the transfer go much more quickly.

The card is black and gold. The rebates are as followed:
75 points - $15 rebate
150 Points - $30 rebate
225 Points - $45 rebate
300 points - $60 rebate.

You can also get free merchandise but I preffer the free money. Just remember that it is only for sending money. All you have to do is put your phone number that you have used on any WU send form.

I have used WU for over 5 years and average 1-4 tranfers a week, and have never been fsucked so far...

No matter what you use..bank card, cash , CC, Cashiers Check, pay pal...The feds can have a record of the transaction already without you knowing about it. I must admit I am a very small player, so what I say does not mean sh*t for a large player.

I was just trying to point out to the people who use WU that they might have some free transfers coming to them..thats all.

I send WU deposits fairly often and have had a Preferred card for years now. I always write my telephone number down as I always thought it was required? How come I have never had the fees taken off with points? Do you request it of the clerk handling the transaction? Doesn't really matter I guess anyway as the sportsbook almost always covers the fees.

Call 1-800-325-6000 and hit 3-3-0 and this will get you to an operator. Ask to be transferred to card services. When you get the card services department tell them you card number and they will tell you how many points you have...then just tell them how many points you want to use.

The book cannot tell what the fees are...plus you get a double bonus per say. One from WU and one from your book.

If you dont know your card number here is a way to find out.
Next time you are at WU to send cash, put you phone number in the area for your preffered number....usually at the top. The preffered number is only 9 digits...but be sure to use all 10 disgits of your phone number in that field. If the clerk says that it must be 9 digits, just tell her to put all 10 numbers because it works, a clerk here in Houston showed me. After the transaction is complete you Western Union Preffered Number will appear on the print out with the total points that you have.
Then when you get a chance call the card division and tell them you want to redeem points.

There is one catch though, if your card is set up to give an instant discount ($1) off then you will have no points because they give you an instant discount.

Hope this helps

As long as you have used them enough to get the bonus. For every $100 transferred they give you 10 points I think

Oops! I just realized that when I give them my card to send cash they almost always take a few bucks off the transaction fee so I probably don't have many points anyway and I do get a discount already.Sorry wasn't thinking here.Strange that they do it different way with each customer though.

My bud had the same problem. His was set up that way, but he called and had them switch it. I guess it doesn't really matter since you have been getting a discount.
