There's no doubt in my mind that the Ducks have laid an egg.
Giving up 41 points to Colorado and then 51 points to WSU in
the last 2 weeks is all anyone needs to know. I personally wish
to call for Helfrich's head. Last year they got their ass kicked
by WSU and Utah at Autzen. That by itself is unheard of. When
Helfrich gets fired he can take Brady Hoke with him.

No Duck team I remember has dropped as many games by large
margins as the current edition. Their 12-game winning streak vs
UDub is about to come to a screeching halt. The Huskies have
finally got the team that can beat Oregon and Oregon has the
team that can't even lose with some dignity. A blowout is just
about a guarantee.

I don't do this for fun, I do this for money.

Like the pick Conan and good call on the new leader on the PAC south, Colorado. I see they are 4 point dawgs to the Trojans, thoughts? Sam Darnold seems to have breathed new life into SC, he has made some rediculous plays the last 2 weeks adding a dimension rarely seen from an SC Qb.

Conan, I'm having trouble getting a "feel" for the pac-12 teams this season...usually by now i'll have a pretty good idea about how each team will perform. I'm curious about how your feeling after 5 weeks. Maybe its just me...

I have a general feel for the conference. As I become more acquainted with more
specifics about teams I haven't researched from a performance viewpoint, I know that
I will be able to predict the game flow as if I had a crystal ball. Not with everything I
write about, but enough to fill in a lot of gaps in people's knowledge and be pretty
entertaining about it too. When I know I have the "nut" the winning pct. goes way
up on those games.

You can tell by the words I use. Just for fun I write a lot of indignant things about the
game and I nail those picks at 70%+ I'm sure. Just FYI, the first game I feel that way
about this year is the game I started this thread with. I don't remember seeing a big
loss staring the Ducks in the face like the game this Saturday, Autzen or no Autzen.

Play it triple

4 starting freshmen on their OL.
Jake Browning vs. Dakota (surfer boy) Prukop :):)
Clearly the Duck offense misses Scott Frost bigtime.

Whatever Sam Darnold is, and he is good, there is no amount of Sam Darnold that could ever equal Michigan. Until Sifo Liufau became hurt in the 3rd quarter, the Buffs had a real shot at shocking the world. They owned most of the first half in that game. It remained competitive right up to the point when Liufau came out of the game. At that time Steve Montez, the Buff backup QB was unprepared for what was about to happen. They blew it but still covered. From that point on in the season, they became untouchable. Now 4-1 and atop of the P-12 South.

This is a perfect example of a head coach who knows how to prepare his players. Montez started the week following the Michigan game and he has done some amazing things. Credit goes to Mike MacIntyre and his assistants. The Buffs are a very well coached team. I knew they would be.

On the other hand, the Trojans seemed to have recently gotten off the snide. Credit USC's QB Sam Darnold, the man responsible for Max Browne transferring out. Now I am not quite sure that all the ails USC started with have all been cured. But suffice to say that their rushing game has gotten itself up off the ground. And Darnold can be a very dangerous dual threat QB who also has a pretty accurate arm or should I say cannon. He's just a 19 year-old kid (freshman) with a future most HS quarterbacks can only dream about. For his sake I hope he stays healthy.

So you put these 2 together and what do you get? In all likelihood a very competitive game with less than a TD difference that decides it. I still think Colorado could be better than people think they are... me included. So with 4 points it's worth a shot. Possibly a push or a cover with a FG difference between them. I don't think there's a TD margin between these 2. 2 weeks ago and I'd have been all over the Buffs but apparently the Trojans have a pulse. Gonna stick with Colorado still on autopilot.

Ha !! UDub has dropped to 8. (UDub -8/Oregon)

Worth it even more. I'm glad I have to load my account in
the morning. I'll get the better number when I place my
wagers but I posted it at 9½ because I really think the
Dawgs will be taking no prisoners.

Maybe folks think Oregon will make a showing because
UDub is their mortal enemy. ??

That goes both ways.

i'm hoping that Frost stays in Orlando for a while. It's nice to see his early success down there!!

Conan, any reason Cal doesn't house the punchless Beavers??
That's a lot of points (and rising) for Cal to lay on the road, even to the hapless Beavs. And this line is only going to get higher. If you like Cal, get it now.

What are the odds of Oregon luring back Kelly to the Land of the Ducks?

What are the odds of Oregon luring back Kelly to the Land of the Ducks?

Hard to tell what's on Chip's agenda... but I think he's probably OK coaching the 49ers.
But the NFL is a pretty high stakes business. Friends can become enemies and vice versa
at the highest levels in a heartbeat. Dollars and cents and wins tell us everything we need
to know.

There is some hope. I think the idea of a Chip Kelly encore raises eyebrows and puts a
smile on the face of every alum. I'm selfish about it. I hope the San Francisco 49ers tank
this year.

I'm keeping watch in the posting forums. There is some rumbling going on.

The offense has scored a lot. Scott Frost wasn't a defensive coach, was he?

If you are referring to the Duck offense, where are all those 2-minute TD drives?
Prukop just doesn't hit his receivers in stride the way Mariotta and Vernon Adams did.
He seems like he's rushed on every passing down. He is impatient and doesn't give his
receivers enough time to get separation far too often.

Scott Frost was recently Oregon's OC.

A banned member that creates another identity is called a beard.

Rickrock is from San Diego. The beard is from El Cajon, just minutes away.

What a clever little putz for a millennial.
But he can't hide his agenda or his style.
No doubt a basement dweller at his parent's house.

The Beavers have a long way to go. I can tell there's been some improvement
across the board with them. At least they know how to play football compared
to the way they played last year. Gary Andersen is a reputable head coach and
it looks like he knows what he's doing in Corvallis. But he has a long way to go.

That being said, the Beavers did cover nicely when they entertained Boise at
Reser Stadium back at the start of the season. Nobody expected them to win
but they didn't allow complete domination of themselves as they often did in
2015. Covering 17 points was within their reach.

CAL is an offensive juggernaut. That was all they needed to defeat Utah last
week. But that 7-play goal line stand vs the Utes to win the game at the end
of regulation was memorable. Utah has allowed the 3rd fewest points among
Pac-12 defenses. Big deal. All that did for them was to slow the Bears down a
little.

The Beavers are ranked 66 in passing yards allowed. Yeah, big deal again.
They should drop 10 slots after Saturday. Also an honorable mention goes
to CAL's TE phenomenon Chad Hansen. He leads the FBS in receiving yards.
Davis Webb already has passed for more than 2000 yards in just 5 weeks.

Cal should give Oregon St. a tougher time than Boise did. Count on Webb
to produce his normal 400 yards through the air. Cal is averaging 42 PPG to
Oregon State's 18 in scoring. That right there seems more realistic than the
12½ pointspread that CAL has generously been given.

CAL -12½/OR St.
