I figure that anyone at ATM should appreciate what a great dual threat QB can do to an opponent.
That is the situation here. I don't think that the gambling world appreciates UCLA's sophomore QB.
Not yet. I realize that there are a lot of folks think that Deshaun Watson is the real deal but I firmly
believe Josh Rosen is potentially at least as good. The Bruins have a couple of freshman receivers
that have unimaginable speed. I believe that UCLA's passing game will be deadly here. Couple
that with Rosen's ability to extend plays and contribute to the Bruin's rushing game and ATM will be
challenged all day.

So It's
UCLA+2 @ TAMU

I'm also big on
SJSU+4½ @ Tulsa The cupboard is far from bare in San Jose

Both dogs can win outright but I like UCLA more that way. Subject
to change if Fall camp turns up some strange developments.
(Shit happens) Stay tuned.

Also leaning on Stanford to come on strong in their opener. I just
can't say what KSU has been up to yet this season. We'll see about
that soon enough. They will need one hell of an offense to deal with
the Cardinal defense.

I still think 'Bama will take USC behind the shed. But they'd better
watch out if they intend to throw the ball much because Adoree
Jackson is the sh*t. It wouldn't surprise me if he pulls a pick 6.

Rosen has a high ceiling. The one weakness I saw from the bowl game was his drop off once flushed from the pocket, but that's also true of most qb's. Given that he was a freshman, sky is the limit.

Wow good to hear a solid capper backing UCLA. I'd love to get a FG here though.

How will UCLA's offensive line be this season? Experienced? Young? And what are your thoughts on Noel Mazzone leaving UCLA to coach at A&M? Did you like him/ his schemes? BOL this year Conan.

in early NFL draft projects Watson is 1st QB taken in 2017, Rosen 1st QB taken in 2018 so both plenty of people, including the folks that make the lines, know about Rosen. He is not a Conan secret

Good luck this season Conan, I'm with you on San Jose but went the other way with A&M against UCLA. Don't know if you've ever been to South Texas, but Mora better have those boys ready as a 2:30pm local kick is likely to have an extreme heat index in front of the 12th man. It will be like a wet T-shirt contest for your gal there.

They brought in ex UW QB Tuiasosopo (sp?) to help refine Rosen because of his lack of escapabilty in the pocket. They are also going to revise their attack a little and have Rosen take a few snaps under center besides their usual shotgun. The kid is very smart. And I'm sure this will allow him to change more plays depending on the defensive alignments. Something he probably didn't do much of last year because of just being a freshman. I'm actually fairly high on UCLA this season despite losing quite a bit on offense. Mainly because many of their opponents will be breaking in new QB's this year. And the Bruins should have a rock solid defense....Good luck with your play Conan

Yes I've driven through Texas and stayed there for a week checking out some jobs at one time. Dallas, Houston and Galveston mainly.

What impressed me more than all the armadillo road kills and the "Drive Friendly" road signs was all the water I saw. It was everywhere. Wherever there was a natural depression in the land in sight of the highway, there was a pond. It's as if a big portion of Texas is sitting in the middle of a massive underground lake. Well what do you know? !!

The worst of it though was the heat and humidity. Try closing your teeth together and take in a breath through your teeth. You will actually get a drink of water.

Here you have a Stanford team that's about to explode huge and go on a destroy and forget mission but yet you'll see games late into the season where the stadium is half full.

I have big questions about SJ St's coaching staff. We should get some answers in his year #3.

A&M has a great set of DE's, and UCLA has been unable to stay healthy up front or protect the QB. Add to that learning a new/modified system. I want to see where the line goes and gets closer to the game the check the health up front. Gonna be awful hot in September for a 2:30PM CST kick.

Chosen Rosen for the 'W'
TX AM is falling apart, the whole coaching staff is a bunch of drunks. Team has no discipline

A&M has been in a decline for a while.
Figure that both teams will be playing pumped up crazy in W1.
The new Bruin starters will be playing typically beyond normal.

UCLA tends to play well in marquee matchups like this game. Some
glitches in Rosen's game but there will be periods of brilliance too.
Major competition at RB to see who will replace Perkins. From what
I have seen, 3 guys have been putting out and making things tough
for Mora to make up his mind about who the workhorse will be. I
wouldn't be surprised to see UCLA wind up with a RB by committee.

Couldn't help but notice that the Aggies showed their true colors last
year dropping 3 of 5 to everyone who is anyone to close out 2015.
Their last 2 victories were against Vandy and Western Carolina.

I've visualized her so much I think I burned out the light bulb in my head.

If it gets that hot Maggie should just take her top off.

Hi Conan, always love your insights. I have been leaning on Tulsa with a good coach, QB, group of receivers, and home openning. The defense is ok. For SJSU, they lost some good corner back players. I knew they always produced some good corner back. Could you please give me some reasons that you're big on SJSU. Thanks.

They still have CBs that are top shelf... just a little younger... and hungry.
But probably the most compelling of all reasons I like SJSU in this game
is about Tulsa's horrid defense. This year there will be an improvement
but how can there not be when you're coming back from being dead last
in all of FBS? (120) I don't think SJ will have much of a problem putting
points on the board.

They were one of the 5-7 bowl teams last year but they were chosen to
play first because they were better than their record. They did pretty well
thumping the Goldem Hurricane in their bowl game.

I still feel a little dirty for wagering on the Ga State vs SJSU bowl game last year. Worst part was that i was on the wrong side
