I just saw one quickie I want to bet right now...

SJSU+7/Boise St.* -- The Spartans have come so close to whupping Boise St. in San Jose the past few years, they can still taste it.

This year Dick Tomey fields probably his strongest team since he took the job. And, as it so happens Boise State isn't so strong compared to years past. I sense an opportunity this time around. The Spartans are an extremely tough team at home. So this could be the year! I'm betting the points and I'll also take a shot on the ML when I see it. At least 1/2 unit there, maybe even a full unit depending on the price. OR... I may upgrade this play to ** and dump some more on it later as long as I am still getting at least 6. But right now I find 7 irresistable. I've already played it. I think the Spartans have an EXCELLENT chance of messing up Boise's BCS hopes and win this game straight up.

You must love Cal this week considering you liked them against a good Arizona team last week on the road..

I agree with SJST.. GL

To tell you the truth, I'm going to have to study on these lines. They all look very sharp.... dammit. I nearly bet the Ducks -3.5/ASU, and I still may. A week off is plenty of time for Chip Kelly to come up with another new wrinkle or 2 which will mess with the Devils.

But what concerns me is the Duck pass defense vs. Rudy Carpenter. That kind of weakness is exactly what the Devils need to score points. If the Ducks can manage the clock with enough success rushing, they should be able to put some distance between themselves and ASU. Bottom line is that I see ASU as a team that's reeling right now and the Ducks are playing pretty strong football.

Arizona+15/USC* -- Here is about where I'd start looking at Zona but it's on the cusp. Pretty sharp line IMHO. Think I'll take the 2 TD's before they're all gone.

UCLA+18/Cal -- UCLA kept themselves in it vs Stanford nicely. They can survive here too for a while and the points could easily be too rich. I need to check on some important player injury reports that could be critical. The Bears are hurting at the moment. WR's are cut kind of thin and what's the story with Best? Cal could be smoldering over their loss last week to Arizona, but will it matter? The only way they cover here is if Longshore or Riley is sharp enough in this game to pull away. I have my doubts. They won't be able to run vs UCLA too well. Nothing but leans here at this point.

Interesting drama happening @ UW this week with TW's old team Notre Dame visiting. Man, I think 11 points at home is rather insulting.

More to come. Maybe there will be some nice totals in here some place.

I also found Colorado St.-7/SDSU and I snatched it up. I may also try a total bet later depending on what they are shooting for. SDSU is plain awful. CSU is a hungry team.

This is a big rivalry game Gyno. It can only hurt Cal being a big favorite, no matter where it's played. That many points is ignorant if you'd ask me. That's my opinion. I give the coaching edge here to Neuheisel because he's a UCLA guy and wants it more. Same goes for his players. They may not get there but they will give it one hell of a try.

HK,

I wonder if the Trojans learned something when Jacquizz Rogers ripped them up for 186 yards.

All these "little" guys are ripping a lot of people up. First there was Jahvid Best @ 5'10" 190 lbs. He's the big guy of the bunch. Quizz is 5'6" and his "BIG" brother James is 5'7". If one don't get you the other one will. Now comes Zona's Antolin @ 5'8". Did USC learn anything from Quizz? It will be interesting to see what's up with that on Saturday when Antolin goes.

Jahvid Best and James Rogers are both Sophmores. The rest are Freshmen. That's scarey.

They're going to have to keep their ends and DL back a bit and mix in the run blitz only occasionally. The problem they had against Jizz is that they kept rushing the ends from the outside instead of stunting them inside and that created a spread-out pocket each time for Jizz to delay and dance through. So incredibly frustrating to watch as a fan not to see 'SC make that simple adjustment. Antolin isn't as strong as Jizz, but he's faster and just as hard to find in the backfield. Moevao's a better passer than Tuitama, but Tuitama's the better runner. Tucson will be rocking for homecoming.

With the public in love with Boise St & SJSU being a relative unknown throughout the country, don't you think this line will get better for you throughout the week?
Seems like a candidate to wait until gameday to bet so the public can put that "action" money on Boise

Thanks to you I've now adopted SJSU as one of my favorite teams :103631605

Core...

If you look at the top of this page you will see "FREE ODDS" on a line near the top... click it and then click NCAAF in the drop down menu -- a page will come up with the opening lines as of today and more stuff.

This one opened at 7.5 and went promptly to 7. I grabbed it while it was at 7 but it might get bet down some more, maybe. On the other hand, this is a big TV game and you could be right that the public will bet Boise back up again. Also, there's always the chance that Wayne Root etc. will come up with their play of the decade on Boise and the line could go through the roof. I'm happy with 7 but I'll hit it again if it gets steamed before kickoff.

Conan, I was on San Jose this past weekend. We have both been big on them this season and they could be my biggest play of the weekend.

I was also on Zona this past weekend. They played a heck of a 2nd half!

Conan, I dont know your take on isolated games like this on a Friday night but I would prefer this game to be mixed in with the rest on Saturday. It helps that San Jose is home for a rare ESPN 2 appearence and Boise is used to this stage but I would still have liked to see it blended with the others. I still Like San Jose. I got 8 and jumped on them right away. I am going to post now. Lets nail this!

PP, I thought the Spartans showed up and played a pretty good game in W1 vs Nebraska. They had the Huskers on their heels for 3 quarters and could have won that TV game. At least this isn't the only TV game the Spartans play. The home crowd will love the TV cameras. A little momentum and I think the spotlight may work against the Broncos. Hopefully no last ditch efforts will spoil it for the Spartans this time around.

So far these have been booked....

SJSU+7/Boise*
(This could be the year SJSU gets over on Boise! ML to follow.)
CSU-7/SDSU*
(Hungry Rams take on a bite-size loser that's quit)
UCLA +18/Cal*
(Major rivalry and lately UCLA is an improved team that shows up to play in big games)
Oregon-3.5/ASU
(This is as much against ASU as it is for UO. The Devils are a 6th or 7th place team.)

I'm Torn in half over the USC game and the number. Despite any apparent shortcomings, the Wildcats still seem like one of the more "live" teams in the conference.

I may bet Notre Dame if I see any more bad news at UW. But I lean towards Notre Dame as of now.

I like this one as well. Reading the conference following their game Saturday night, I would say that SDSU has quit Chuck "3rd and" Long.

If you remember back in the Summer I put this down as a "play on" game on SJSU for this season. I want to bet them as well, but my hold back is that they seem to depend on their defense way too much to win games for them. Their offense is not that good.

That being said, this is a bad spot for Boise and SJSU always seems to play better at home. I'm still considering this game and I am seriously considering going with the UNDER on the total.

Good luck, Conan . . . .
