Season: 30-17 (64%) + 18.5 units

I got there as fast as I could and got some bets in before they got too far away....

Oregon St. -10/ASU**
(I almost got it at 9 but I'm glad I hit it before it went to 11... still like it best of all. I think ASU is a team in turmoil and the Beavers will take advantage of this to the hilt.) (best bet)
Stanford-27/WSU*
(Time for the Cardinal to take their turn on WSU. 27 looks like a hell of a bargain. It apparently was because it's now 28.)
USC-43/UW*
(UW's defense has fallen apart and they are no better than WSU. USC needs an impressive win for style points to make up for last weeks low output vs. Zona)
Oregon+3/CAL*
UO's offense is on a roll again. I don't think Cal can do very much to stop them considering that they couldn't pull ahead of UCLA until Kevin Craft handed them 14 points last week.

What impressed me most about Oregon was their rushing game by committee. 7 different runners and nobody with 100 yards. 300 plus yards when it's all added up. How do you defense that? Masoli was efficient, not spectacular but he didn't make mistakes and added that extra dimension of taking off with the ball. That kept ASU's LB's at home... in the case of CAL that would be 4 of them. Things must get pretty complicated when defensing that many running backs with a 3-4 scheme up front. If you'd ask me, IMHO Masoli/Riley is about a wash which leaves UO's rushing game a good notch or better above Cal. The Bears have some weapons but they don't strike me as #2 in the conference in the power ranking category whereas the Ducks might.

UW's defense played one of their best games of the year yesterday. They were the only reason that game wasn't 55-7. The offense is what is a complete mess. USC's D should have thier way with them all day next Saturday.

Love the OSU play. I think that number will only rise as the week goes on. ASU is a "Play Against" or "Don't play at all" team from this point forward. I said it last year that the team would not stand up when punched in the mouth and I said it again earlier this year. This team is soft.
I want to see if the number goes up in the CAl/ORE game. I'm on the side getting points as when they play the game is always close. Agree with you on Stanford over WSU, but staying away from USC/UW. I can see USC getting up big and calling off the dogs in this one. UW's D did not seem to quit despite being outmanned and having no help from the offense.

Winone!!

Good thinking WinOne... however I do think USC will find scoring very easy vs UW and will run up plenty of points at will. I doubt UW will score 10... at the very most! But a shutout isn't out of the realm of possibility either.

In another game, Cal's rushing defense has not been as good as it seems to be statistically. The opponents who they've managed to hold under 100 yards so far have been ASU, WSU and UCLA. (Woohoo!) The rest (except MSU in W1) ran on them easily and beat them on the ground... Maryland, Arizona... even CSU ran for 125 yards against them and none of the above are in Oregon's class running the ball. Best and Vereen combined can not hold a candle to Oregon's rushing game. In the passing game, Massoli = Riley. They even run with the ball about equally well.

Oregon State is still a deal at 12 or 13. This game won't be close. The Beavers are running like a well oiled machine these days (except for a few picks on occasion.) They'll score a lot and their defense will be all up in Carpenter's face all day.

Stanford laying 30 is no different from them laying 27 or 28 because WSU will be no where near them on the scoreboard. Even Pritchard will look good vs that secondary, not to mention what Gerhardt/Kimble will do to them on the ground. AT WILL! They might double their 24 ppg scoring average here. Everyone else has.

Laying the big #'s against the Wash/WSU teams is only the way to go or no play. Game in Corvallis i see. Just wondering about Cal/Oregon :think2:

I'll be all over this one as soon as lines are posted at another couple of books I use. I will probably hit this game 3 times to make up for that awful week 9 I had. With ASU playing as poorly as they have and the Beavers looking as sharp as they have... and playing at home, the timing here looks very favorable for a Beaver cover by a good margin.

Willingham to step down as Huskies coach at season's end

Associated Press

October 27, 2008, 3:22 PM ET

Tyrone Willingham said Monday he will step down at the end of the 2008 season.
The embattled Washington coach fell to 0-7 on Saturday after a 33-7 loss to Notre Dame. Willingham and athletics director Scott Woodward made the announcement at a news conference. Willingham has been under fire for being unable to turn around the Washington program. He is 11-32 overall in his four seasons with the Huskies. Washington currently has a nine-game losing streak dating back to last season, tied with North Texas for the longest in the country. Woodward has said he did not want to change coaches during the middle of the season. But he said Monday's announcement ends speculation of what is going to happen with Willingham and lets the team focus on the final five games.

Big News for the Beavers -- Much Needed OL Depth

Offensive tackle Tavita Thompson will finally return to action in Oregon State’s next game Nov. 1 against the Sun Devils at Reser Stadium.

The 6-6, 310-pound Thompson — who started last season as a junior — missed an entire year due to an NCAA suspension for banned substance use. Thompson retained an attorney last month and tried to get the NCAA to shorten the penalty, but Thompson says NCAA officials held firm.

Riley says Thompson will not start against the Sun Devils. O-line coach Mike Cavanaugh has been pleased with the performance of redshirt freshman Mike Remmers, who has started all season at right tackle.

“We’re glad to have Tavita back, but we’re not going to just throw him in there as a starter,” Riley says. “He’ll be able to compete for playing time off of what he does in practice.”

Bellotti is playing with fire by continuing to start Masoli. Roper is better by quite a bit.

IMHO Massoli is a work in progress and there's been progress every week. Roper is taller and has better vision over the middle but he cannot move out of the pocket nearly as well as Massoli and his timing and accuracy must be affected by his absence. Remember Roper was 5th string last season and only got to play as much as he did by default. There have been 4 or 5 QB's ahead of Roper on the depth chart... for at least a reason or 2, wouldn't you think?
