'08 Regular CFB Season:
51-30 (63%) +27½ Units

Here we go again.

Most of these have been discussed/written up in other Pac-10 and Pac-10 selection threads but next week all will be posted with my weekly selections. As you can see I have zero'ed in on some under plays because of a few very shaky QB situations and some much better defenses on the same playing field. That may be my theme for a little while spotting these likely low output games where rusty or inept offenses play poorly and strong defenses will likely dominate the action.

My sentiments and my money:

Oregon +6/Boise St.*
Stanford -16½/WSU*
Stanford/WSU Under 56*
(greek - still unnamed starting QB at WSU this late?)
UCLA/SDSU Under 52* (bookmaker - perhaps my GOW** - UCLA has no OL... again!)
CMU/AZ Under 54½* (so where is UA's offense? By the way, Gronk has yet to practice with his pads on and time is running short. Nobody named starting QB yet, but it appears to be Scott... maybe)

Added:
Oregon ML +175*

Pending:
WSU+8½(?)/LSU 1H
(a "ducktail" bet when posted -- might wait on it up to game time due to expected line movement -- perhaps 9 or even 10 points maybe?)

GL Conan, give em hell this season......i know you will. :drink:

not that it is a huge deal, but i would be utterly shocked if Lopina doesn't start for WSU....the staff and players have known this for a couple weeks simply by practice results...of course harbaugh knows this as well, so i don't know what Wulf is up to...maybe just trying to keep Lobostell (sp) focused throughout camp...Wulf knows he will need two (or four) QBs to get through the season.

OK so here we are now in the final week before games happen. From here on out in our upcoming season, we will be game planning a week at a time. Starts all Sunday evening and Monday, hopefully no later.

So in the Pac, 8 QB jobs are settled and 2 are not settled but they HAVE to be settled this week and probably sooner than later. So........... what up Zona and WSU? Having leadership issues are we? This late? Every day that goes by, it's looking worse and worse.

We should be preparing ourselves for a couple/few double headed offenses. I can't help but be a little distracted there. The search for a leader/winner? Search? (eyebrows raised)

Thanks heaps Trent. I kind of feel like I've got the whole season hedged with that Cal NC game future. Maybe all Riley needs is a better looking girlfriend. ??? Hope it's that simple.

BUT... WHOA!
Boise St. now -4½ @bookmaker... anyone considering Oregon -- grab the 5 before you lose it.
See what those TV pundits (the 4 that all picked Boise St. by 2 TD's) can do for a side wager?

NOTHING! (Too much smurf turf on the brain?)

It looks like my post yesterday pushed it down.@)

Boise down to 4 at pinnacle...your beards must be betting oregon there.

I'm also on Stanford...wsu is still terrible especially their secondary. Except that I disagree with the cmu/zona under, no opinion about your other picks.

Good luck this season and thanks for the p10 information throughout the summer.

Good luck to you Woof.

My idea about the CMU AZ game is that Zona's defense is the best thing they have going for themselves. Kinda changes the outlook on the whole game IMHO. Their offense hasn't shown up so far this fall. Can't find a starting QB as of today. But if you are suggesting that perhaps CMU can cover the number, we have no disagreements.

Dawoofdaddy,

I thought you might have an opinion about Brady Hoke since he comes from the MAC out your way. His accomplishments are no secret but what the Aztecs need most is a complete change of culture. Here's a recent interview with him from a San Diego publication. Some pretty basic stuff, and a good read. It's notable that he's taken on the duties of being their DL coach. Interesting, perhaps very relevant here as well.

I'm counting on him to lift them above what Chuck Long left behind, and I expect to see something come out of there pretty soon.

First I would think that his "toughness" approach will keep them from being mauled all the time. In this situation I don't think UCLA has enough going for them on the OL to push Hoke's team around very much anyway. Perhaps nobody will move the ball very effectively.

Anything you might add with your knowledge of where he comes from would be appreciated -- if you have some time to reply during your busy day.

I'm going to upgrade the UCLA/SDSU pick to GOW** for me. Pretty sure about that.

Thanks cash,

It would have been nice to receive an endorsement from someone with a "Bronco" avatar instead of a "Golden Duck" ...but thanks just the same.

GO DUCKS!

Conan I do have a bet on sdst + for the game, but dont have an opinion about the total. I like Hoke and knew he wouldnt stick around the mac for too long.

Thanks Woof. Hoke might get a better deal than thought if the MWC winds up becoming a BCS conference. It could happen.

You probably have heard this before, that "unders" generally go with dogs and overs with favorites the majority of the time. Something like 55%-60% of the time but don't quote me on the exact %.
