what do you expect him to do? He got focused in on the hit and never saw the pass tipped. he did not lead with his head (was fully left shoulder) and I'm sure you're not in a medical position to say what residual effects he's going to have
the penalty flag was justified because it's clark's responsibility to know if the ball was still on it's way but I can't fault a guy that was so dialed in to make the hit. if the ball is not tipped and gets to welker we're talking about this as one of the great hits of all time, plus no penalty flag
expecting players charging at full speed to know when a ball is tipped a split-second before they're about to level a guy is very difficult. great hit but justified penalty due to "the rules"

That pussy Ryan Clark knew for damn sure he was going to take a shot at the little Welker. He ran at him and even after the ball was tipped to the ground took his free shot. He never even tried to break up a pass or anything, he just ran and took a shot at somebody much smaller than him. He wouldn't do that shit to Quan Bolding.
I hope he gets fined 75K and suspended at least 1 game. Roger doesn't want the leagues Marquee players taking unneccesary cheap shots by head hunters looking to make sports center.

Well ,coming from a Steelers fan, I thought it was uncalled for. Not sure if he didnt see the pass tipped or not but he proabably couldve pulled up. This can be debated all day so you will never know. He led with his shoulder and not the helmet at least, but I thought it was a late hit & he left his feet.
When I saw it, it may have been one of the loudest hits Ive ever heard on TV. I got chills becasue I didnt think he was getting up and I never like to see guys get hurt like that. Give Welker credit for bouncing up, but Im sure he was in a fog.
The scariest part which I didnt even see until I watched this video is the way Welkers head flung backwards and hit the ground with such force. Man, is that scary stuff. He may be out the rest of the year & it may take a good month for the side effects of that concussion to clear up. Hope for the best for him.

It's football fellas, not checkers! Most of you guys don't remember Butkus, Ronnie Lott, mean Joe Green, most recently John Lynch was considered dirty, these guys play the sport with passion! It is football, but this isn't no holes barred.
Football is a contact sport, but that doesn't mean a defensive end can just run at a QB and smash him 3 seconds after a pass is thrown and then plea that football is a contact sport.
We do have rules.
