Football is an afterthought here. Just to pass the time until our No. 1 in the nation basketball team hits the court. Zook will recruit better than anyone else we've had, so I like our chances of being competitive. A change like this is a breath of fresh air. We haven't had a big name coach in awhile for football.

Zook is a great recruiter who will clean house in Chicago area, Zook will also recruit Florida , can't see anything but good that comes from this hiring

I think Zook and Illinois is a great match.....He ended up with sissy QBs in Florida the only ones Sissier (new word, W gave me the idea) are this year's FSU QBs. I may be wrong but didn't Illinois play option ball this year....Will be interesting to see how recruiting and intent letters go for Zook....Rivals.com gives a weekly update on recruiting.

Very little known fact about Ron Zook. He's the absolute most likeable coach for kids in the country. All of Spurrier's talent came mostly from Zook who out-recruited every coach on the staff every year he was at florida.

He can be a GM type coach like Bowden, Paterno, etc and delegate much of the responsibility to the assistants (play calling mostly) and can bring in the nations top talent and excude an exceptional work ethic.

I hate how Florida dumped him, and I hate that he's gone and I hope Illinois turns into a top 5 program annually within 5 years.

Live near Gainesville now so I'm familiar with Zook and hope he brings Illinois football back.
