Went to the Excalibur poker room last week....

They have those automated tables....anyone else use these yet?

couple thoughts:

1) This should save money all around....the poker room gets the rake without paying the dealers...while the players don't waste dollars after dollars tipping for every pot won.

2) The intention I think was to be less intimidating....I did not get this feeling...everyone on the table knew how it worked and I felt very rushed when it was my turn.

3) Play overall much faster and much more hands being dealt...this has to be a positive for everyone.

4) Misclicking happened....more often than playing online.

5) It is a lot easier to see everyone's balances....makes me feel bad for the guys who lose money at a rapid rate....harder for them to judge other people's balances rising (while theirs falls) when looking at actual chips.

they are pretty cool....although when I tried to look at the other players (trying to get a read while they look at their cards), they look back at me like I'm a cheater trying to sneak a peek at their hand.

Four Winds Casino in my neck of the woods was one of the first to have them. Still seems like the younger players like them while the older ones hate them.

It should be ideal for limit games of less than 5-10. These are the games, where dealer tips become too costly in relation to pot size. Lots of players familiar with online, but not live poker.

At 5-10, and better, I'd rather have a dealer.

I think it will work well, but it also takes something away from the game.

I'd say intention is to not have to pay dealers, more than anything else.

Shadow, tipping the dealer shouldnt be that big of a deal. Most people only tip $1 per hand.

At my $5-5 NO LIMIT game, people still tip $1 when they win $700

Good point. When I play my 500-1000 NL and win a 80K pot, I only tip 2-3 bucks.

Excal is a beta testing for these machines, i was there last sat. afternoon and about 10 people were playing. the excal had a big poker room, used to be the 3rd largest after bellagio and orleans at one time. this is part of the scaling back of poker, as the casinos are losing $ for thee first time and looking for ways to cut back. and we all know poker is not a big $ maker for a casino.

i thought these machines were a silly idea at first , who would want to play with a machine and not a real dealer with real cards?
bit after thinking about it I have changed my mind, the tips are a benift as they add up to a large hit to a overall win rate. BUt the major advantage is the lower rake which on the machine is almost nothing, [subject to change i am sure], which could make playing low limits profitable.

right now a typical lv game the rake is $5 with another $1 for the jackpot and if you tip say $1, do some quick math and tell me how anyone is going to win at a low limit game.

2 things: One I have only watched a handful of poker since I have been here but it seems like most tip after every hand they win. I am the least cheap guy you will find but damn that seems like it can add up.

This may be off the wall but I wonder if it will ever get to the point someone can play more than one live game at a time with these machines. Like I said pretty far fetched right now but I could see someone attmeptng to do it. I dont know enough about it but cant be too far out of the question.

You already can play multiple tables at once, it is called ONLINE POKER
