First of all, depending what state your in, the taxes can vary depending if you eat in or take out the order. There is also a difference(in Calif), if you have the sub heated or not. I had ordered at Subway one week and they didn't charge me a tax. A week later I ordered at Jersey Mike's Subs and they charged me tax. Normally I wouldn't have noticed but for some reason I looked at the receipt and saw I was charged a tax. I asked them why, and they said they didn't know my order was to go where there is no charge for a tax. If you have a heated sub, there is automatically a tax whether you eat in or take out. Now this is for the state of CA. only, and I guess it differs from state to state.
By the way, one of our local stations following up on a consumer complaint, found out that the alledged "foot longs" were ONLY 11 inches! Yes folks, size does matter! Maybe we can have some Rxer's can measure their foot long next order and see if they are really a FOOT LONG!
