due to the pirates letting russell martin go to toronto and not resigning him i will not continue to be a pirates fan.I'M sick of them letting key pieces of the team go and not signing them back.i have been a pirates fan for over 40 years and today it ends.I will now be a washington nationals fan and they are even closer to go see than the pirates are for me.The pirates have to be the worst organization in baseball.I hope they lose mCcutchen next due to not getting him decent players to put on the field with him.at the end of the season he did say he wanted some better talent on the team as he is sick of losing and being the only go to guy on the team, cause lets face it when he is out of the lineup they struggle........i can't continue on here,im so pissed off so im done with pitt and their cheap ways

you should try being a Twins fan someday, it's hard

but I simply learned to adopt some other team in October

I think you will be pleasantly surprised with Cervelli .
Curious to see him numbers as a full time catcher. Good glove, decent bat and can play some first if needed.
Sad to see him go a Yankee fan but it was one the few positions they were deep at.

The Pirates had no chance to re-sign Martin.

Having a 35 year old catcher make $16 million (more than their franchise player) is not how they do business.

I am not clear on why you even thought Martin would be a Pirate in 2015?

Agree with this. I think it's actually a good move by the Pirates.

I would rather root for a team like the Pirates then a big spender team that just throws money around.. Pirates are making a lot of smart decisions recently.. in the long run the money will be well spent elsewhere

thanks metro,..i get just so damn mad sometimes with the moves my team makes sometimes,...hey i know that's way too much money for martin to get,but how hard did they deal with him,..for how fast it happened it sounds like they didn't haggle too much with him.

Toronto just pisses money away on aging players. I'm glad the Cubs passed.
