So I hit a 4 team parlay with an open slot last night. $25 to win $600 unless I sell points or take a ML dog.

Any advice on how to maximize a profit on this?

I realize I can take a team and immediately hedge it but taking the opposite side, but I wonder if there is an angle here that I am overlooking.

Thoughts?

Football - 153 Boston College +16 -110 for Game
Football - 158 Iowa +10 -120 buying ½ for Game
Football - 187 Arizona U +6 -116 buying ½ for Game
Football - 206 UCLA -4 -110 for Game

I think you add the 5th and play opposite.

Ps Donger Report on its way? Love opening that on a Sunday AM

Sounds like you know how to pick a winner. I would look at it differently and say, "I get a chance to win 300 bucks with almost no risk."

then em I would take detroit +7.5 ;)

You have it down donger, pick your 5th then play the opposite. The optimal situation would have been say you played the Seahawks as your 5th parlay spot at -6.5 then the line moves up to 7.5 you then catch the Cardinals at +7.5. Then you hit both when the Seahawks win by 7. Gamblers dream.

Just take the guaranteed $300. Or if you really like a bet, put it in and hedge the other side for like $100 so you win a little something either way.

I was thinking this as well-- Trying to find a way for both sides to win as Raven was stating earlier. I think small ML fav in the parlay with hedge on the dog getting points might work. But hell, how often do the points even matter in the NFL?

If your having a decent week/year put in your next best play and go for what you planned on when you put the bet in

This is what it boils down to... but I hate throwing away free money. $25 to win $300 guaranteed or $25 to win $600? Do I go the route of Joey Knish or Mike Mc-D?

I'm up this week and if I take the $300 i'm about even from yesterday. ND sucks and so does the USC/UCLA over! HAHA

My advice would be for the next time you or anyone does something like this. Hedging comes with a price which is typically juice from playing both sides of a game. Therefore, next time don't leave an open spot. Play and cash the 4 teamer and eliminate the need to hedge. Otherwise, play to win.

Playing a 4 teamer and winning has a greater return than playing a 5 teamer and hedging the 5th spot. This is a fact that seems to elude many.

I think you just convinced me to fill the 5th spot and let it ride, haha.

Your picture reminds me of this wannabe tour-guide chick in North Carolina. We were on our way to a white water rafting trip... and she made a joke about "...there it went and see-it-go... citgo" yea. Coffee please

If that's what you decide to do, I sincerely hope it works out.

That's one goofy joke. You may be aware of this, but the photo is of a neon sign that I believe is officially designated as a historic landmark located in Kenmore Square a few hundred feet from Fenway Park. My favorite memory from that location is having Jim Osterberg (better known as "Iggy Pop") huddled under my umbrella in a driving rain as I escorted him into the record store beneath the neon sign (Spring of 1981).
