How do fighters cut weight? I've always heard dehydrated. How do you dehydrate 20 or 30 pounds?

I've always heard water weight can be up to 10%, so if they have a way to drop a large portion of that, then they could she 12-15 pounds. The other I have no idea?

Definitely cut weight, and it's more than water. 20-25 lbs is about the average. With the new 9am weigh-ins (weigh-ins on tv are for show) most fighters are gaining 12-15 pounds back easily, and all the ones I know say it's the best they've ever felt. Weight cut starts about 2-3 weeks out if done right and only needing to shed the last 2-3 lbs tops within 24 hours of official weigh-in.

If it starts 2-3 weeks out are they progressively scaling back their diet and then starving themselves for 2-3 days? There's no way I could do that.

what's the time frame? If just days then its all water loss. We are about 50-60% water . I'd imagine they'd throw everything to try to extract water; laxative, diuretic , water intake minimal, sauna..etc. Not very healthy, of course.
