Love the play bro. Not enough offense for LSU in this game. As long as Kelly doesn't turn it over a bunch Ole miss looks like the right side here. Good luck brother.

A bit surprised they are getting 6 but the rebels defense is absolutely atrocious. Thought this team had some serious potential to win SEC but I'm not touchin them for rest of season after seeing them defend. GL hope u hit

[h=1]Not my write-up)[/h][h=1]LSU vs. Ole Miss - 10/22/16 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction[/h]
Ole Miss Rebels (3-3) at LSU Tigers (4-2)
[h=2]College Football: Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 9:00 pm (Tiger Stadium)[/h] [h=3]The Line: LSU Tigers -6[/h][h=3]Over/Under: 60.5[/h] The LSU Tigers and the Ole Miss Rebels face off on Saturday in a week 8 college football battle of SEC heavyweights.
The LSU Tigers are 4-2 and they have looked markedly improved since Ed Orgeron has taken over as head coach. The LSU offense is averaging 28.5 points and 408.5 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 8 times but the offense has scored 42 and 45 points in their last 2 games. Tigers QB Danny Etling has completed 58.8 percent of his passes with 6 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Derrius Guice has taken over the LSU rushing attack with Leonard Fournette injured and he has rushed for 564 yards and 6 touchdowns and Travin Dural is the top receiver with 20 catches and a touchdown and Malachi Dupre has 18 catches and 2 touchdowns. The LSU defense is allowing 14 points and 312 yards per game with 4 interceptions, 4 fumble recoveries, and 18 sacks. Kendell Beckwith leads LSU with 60 tackles, Jamal Adams has 45 tackles, and Arden Key has 7 sacks. LSU still has time to salvage their season starting with this game and then dates down the road with Florida and Alabama.

The Ole Miss Rebels are 3-3 this season and are coming off of a tough 4-point road loss at Arkansas last week. The Ole Miss offense is averaging 39.7 points and 476.7 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 10 times. Rebels QB Chad Kelly has completed 62.4 percent of his passes with 14 touchdowns and 5 interceptions and he has rushed for 213 yards and 3 touchdowns. Akeem Judd is Mississippi’s top rusher with 343 yards and 3 touchdowns and Evan Engram is the top receiver with 37 catches and 5 touchdowns. The Ole Miss defense is allowing 30.3 points and 448.5 yards per game with 5 interceptions, 4 fumble recoveries, and 12 sacks. Zedrick Woods leads Mississippi with 39 tackles, DeMarquis Gates has 37 tackles, and Marquis Haynes has 4 sacks. Ole Miss has been good but just not good enough this season and they have fallen well short of expectations. LSU is 1-7 against the spread in their last 8 home games against Ole Miss and 5-0 against the spread in October. Ole Miss is 1-5 against the spread in their last 6 road games, 5-1 against the spread following a loss, and 11-4 against the spread in their last 15 games against LSU. The Underdog has covered the point spread in 13 of the last 16 meetings of these two teams.
LSU has been playing well since Orgeron has taken over and Ole Miss has been a disappointment but I expect this game to be close. Look for plenty of scoring but I feel better taking the point here with the Rebels.

[h=1](Not my write-up)[/h]LSU vs. Ole Miss prediction and game preview. Projecting who wins the matchup between the Tigers and Rebels.

[h=2]LSU vs. Ole Miss Game Preview[/h] When: Saturday, October 22 – 9:00 p.m. ET
Where: Tiger Stadium, Baton Rouge, LA
TV Broadcast: ESPN
LSU has seemed like a new team since Ed Orgeron took over for the fired Les Miles, going 3-0 and putting an offense on the field that looks like what everyone expected, and that is without running back Leonard Fournette being out there. The Tigers seem to have a new life, and will make it extremely difficult for the Rebels, who are coming in off an upset loss against Arkansas. Ole Miss is 3-3, but those losses have all come to ranked teams. This should be a dandy!
[h=3]What To Know About LSU[/h] The offense is playing well, and the Tigers expect to get Fournette back this week for the showdown against the Rebels. His replacement, Derrius Guice, has proven that he is the future at the position once Fournette leaves for the NFL Draft this offseason, while quarterback Danny Etling has been an improvement over Brandon Harris. Wide receiver Malachi Dupre finally found the end zone this past Saturday, scoring twice against Southern Miss.
The defense has been good all season long, allowing only 14 points per game. The defensive front seven is talented, with linebacker Kendell Beckwith being a player that can create ruckus against the run and pass. Stopping quarterback Chad Kelly from running for first downs will be one of Beckwith’s responsibilities, while the secondary must find a way to contain tight end Evan Engram.
[h=3]What to Know About Ole Miss[/h] The offense belongs to Kelly, and he’s been spectacular so far this season, throwing for 1,849 yards and 14 touchdowns to just five picks. It helps having an option at tight end like Engram, who leads the Rebels with five touchdown passes.
The Ole Miss defense has been a mystery, as they are world-beaters at times and other times look like a junior high team. Stopping the duo of Fournette and Guice on the ground and making Etling beat them with his arm would be a good way to win this game.
[h=3]Advantages[/h] Offense: Ole Miss. LSU has improved, but the combination of Kelly and Engram could be one of the best in the country.
Defense: LSU. The defense was never a problem for the Tigers leading up to Les Miles’ firing.
Special Teams: LSU. Tre’Davious White is a threat in punt returns to return it to the house.
Coaching: Tie. Orgeron has LSU playing well, but can he keep it up in the long run?
Intangibles: Ole Miss. The Rebels need to prove that they can win the big games. This is one of those.
[h=3]Matchup To Watch[/h] Leonard Fournette vs. Expectations
With Fournette finally coming back, how many carries will he get and how explosive can he be? Fans might want to temper what they expect to see out of the running back.
[h=3]LSU vs. Ole Miss Betting Odds[/h] Spread: LSU -6
Over/Under: No over/under as of post
[h=2]LSU vs. Ole Miss Prediction[/h] It is a 8 p.m. local start time in Baton Rouge, and given that amount of time, the Bayou Bengals faithful will be ready to rock Tiger Stadium, one of the most intimidating venues in all of sports. It won’t faze a veteran quarterback like Chad Kelly, who will do just enough to … lose in a close game. LSU at home on a Saturday night with the team now rolling? I wouldn’t bet against that. T-I-G-E-R-S, TIGERS!
LSU vs. Ole Miss Score Prediction: LSU 30, Ole Miss 28

[h=1]LSU defense will have its hands full in rematch with Ole Miss, Chad Kelly[/h]
BATON ROUGE, La. -- LSU knows what it must do to stop Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly on Saturday (9 p.m. ET, ESPN). Then again, the Tigers knew it last season, too, and that didn't turn out so well.

That 38-17 road loss still stings for many of the Tigers who were involved.
"If they don't [remember], I'm going to remind them, because I remember it," said LSU interim coach Ed Orgeron, the Tigers' defensive-line coach at the time. "Those guys whooped our tail."
Nobody whooped the Tigers' tails more thoroughly than Kelly, who ran circles around Kevin Steele's defense. Kelly passed for 280 yards and two touchdowns, and when he wasn't making things happen through the air, he was doing it on the ground, adding 81 rushing yards and two more scores.
Because of the substantial margin of victory, it's easy to forget that LSU had rallied from an early 24-0 deficit to trail 24-17 midway through the third quarter. But Kelly slammed the door on the Tigers' comeback bid, capping an 83-yard drive with an 11-yard touchdown run, then hitting tight end Evan Engram with a 36-yard scoring pass to restore the Rebels' huge lead before the fourth quarter even started.
"[That was] really us getting out of our pass-rushing lane," LSU outside linebacker Arden Key said. "We might have two guys rushing the A-gap, and they didn't know it, so that leaves Chad to step up, and if there's nobody open, then he's going to take it and run."
Kelly did that successfully last week against Arkansas, rushing for a season-high 89 yards and two touchdowns. However, he also committed a couple of costly turnovers in the 34-30 loss, including a fumble when he attempted to run for a first down on the Rebels' final offensive play.
Even if he hasn't matched his production from 2015, when he posted some of the most impressive numbers of any quarterback in SEC history, Kelly still ranks among the conference's most productive signal-callers. He boasts the SEC's best Total Quarterback Rating (79.6) and is also tops in the league in passing yards per game (308.2).
Although the Rebels' leading receiver last season, Laquon Treadwell, left early for the NFL, Kelly still has an impressive collection of pass-catchers at his disposal, led by Engram, who leads the SEC with 590 receiving yards.
"When you go one-on-one, he's going to throw it up, and they're going to go up there and grab it," Orgeron said. "They do a very good job taking what the defense gives him."
And when the defense leaves space for Kelly to run, he's not afraid to take off.
"You look at him, and he's got decent speed, but once you get on the field and you've got to go chase him, he's pretty fast,” Key said.
It's always important for a defensive line to keep a quarterback hemmed in, but it's doubly important when that quarterback has running ability like Kelly's. They knew last season and failed to follow through, but the Tigers realize that limiting Kelly's successful escapes will be a key to defending the Rebels' offense more effectively.
"What we're going to try to do is keep him in the pocket," nose guard Greg Gilmore said. "I think that's the main thing, get push up the middle. We've got great end rushers, and ... I know we want to push the pocket. I think that's the main part, especially with his running ability."
One positive development for LSU's defense ahead of the Ole Miss matchup is that, unlike last season, the Tigers have already faced several offenses that push the tempo, which is also a key feature of Hugh Freeze's attack.

LSU handled Missouri, which ranks among the nation's fastest offenses, on Oct. 1. That game, as well as matchups against spread teams such as Mississippi State, Jacksonville State and Southern Miss, gave Dave Aranda's defense a good idea of what to expect Saturday, both the good and the bad.
"[Missouri was] the fastest team I've ever played," Gilmore said. "I don't know how they do it. The offensive line wasn't breathing hard, and I'm over here breathing hard. I was like, 'Man, I must be out of shape.'"
That said, LSU still surrendered just seven points in that game. If the Tigers come anywhere near that level of dominance against Kelly and Co. on Saturday, Aranda will have more than earned his paycheck.
"For a team like that, a fast team like that who likes to take deep shots, you're only going to get one chance," cornerback Donte Jackson said. "You don't really want to mess that up, so it's really just you reading your keys and making sure you're in the place you're supposed to be."

Ole Miss Rebels vs. LSU Tigers

LSU owns a short edge in the recent rivalry with Ole Miss, winning four of the last six meetings outright, but the Rebels are 3-1 against the spread over the last four encounters and 7-3 ATS over the last 10. The Tigers and Rebels hook up for an interesting SEC West matchup Saturday night in Baton Rouge.

Why the Ole Miss Rebels can cover the spread

Mississippi had won two games in a row, reaching 3-2, but lost a tough one last week at Arkansas 34-30. The Rebels looked a little rusty coming off their bye week, falling down to the Razorbacks 17-6 early in the second quarter, but rallied to tie the game at 20-20 into halftime. They later took a 30-27 lead with nine minutes left in the game. But Ole Miss allowed a 10-play, 56-yard drive for an Arkansas score with just over two minutes left, then came up short on a fourth down, suffering an upset as a 10-point favorite.
Senior quarterback Chad Kelly led the comeback for the Rebels, throwing for 253 yards and one touchdown, and running for 89 yards and two more scores, including a 17-yard jaunt that gave Ole Miss its only lead. However, he also tossed a pick in Hogs territory and lost a fumble on the Rebels' final possession.
Still, one gets the feeling Ole Miss is never out of a game as long as Kelly is still upright.

Why the LSU Tigers can cover the spread

LSU is 2-0 both SU and ATS since interim head coach Ed Orgeron took over for the fired Les Miles, after smashing Southern Miss last week 45-10. The Tigers actually spotted the Golden Eagles an early touchdown, and could only manage a 10-10 halftime tie. But they drove the second-half kickoff to a touchdown and pulled away from there, winning the second half 35-0 on their way to a cover as 24.5-point favorites.
On the evening LSU outgained Southern Miss 459-242 and outrushed the Eagles 183-81. Also, quarterback Danny Etling only completed 11 of 18 passes, but they went for 276 yards and three touchdowns.
Three weeks ago, in Orgeron's first game in charge, the Tigers bombed Missouri 42-7. So perhaps the change is doing LSU some good.

Betting trends

LSU is 9-0 SU in its last nine games in October.
The total has gone under in LSU's last six games against its conference.
Mississippi is 4-1 ATS in its last five games against its conference.

Some of my thoughts about the Ole Miss vs LSU game.

Getting Ole Miss + 6 has plenty of value in my opinion.
thumbs_up.gif

Ole Miss +6 is not guaranteed to cover but I really like it.
bigsmile.gif

During the last 32 games Ole Miss has only lost 4 games by 6 points. (2014 – Current)

So Ole Miss + 6 has covered 28 out of 32 games played in last three years.

Ole Miss doesn't have a stellar defense like it has over the past few years but the offense led by Chad Kelly can certainly hang around with anyone, just ask Alabama.

This team had a three touchdown lead on #1 Alabama just a few weeks ago and only lost by 5 points to the POWERHOUSE #1 Alabama. Alabama's rally from 21 points down tied the largest in school history. So this easily could have been a third straight year that Ole Miss beat Alabama if not for the incredible comeback.

They say, “It’s not who you are playing but who you have played.”

Let's take a look at LSU's schedule this year.

LSU - 2016 Schedule
Wisconsin L 16-14
Jacksonville State W 34-13
Mississippi State W 23-20
Auburn L 18-13 (LSU fired head coach after loss)
Missouri W 42- 7
Southern Mississippi W 45-10

LSU has looked better since firing the head coach but victories over Missouri and Southern Miss over the last two weeks don't impress me at all.

Before firing head coach Les Miles, LSU lost to Auburn who was 1-2 at the time and still trying to figure out how to get into a rythym. Many believed this game would decide if Auburn or LSU fired their head coach. LSU was defeated in a wild game and Les Miles was done.

LSU beat Jacksonville State and Mississippi State earlier this year after losing to Wisconsin. Not impressed at all.

Now take a quick look at who Ole Miss has played this year.

Ole Miss - 2016 Schedule
Florida State (Ranked #4 at the time) L 45-34
Wofford W 38-13
Alabama (Ranked #1 at the time) L 48-43
Georgia (Ranked #12 at the time) W 45-14
Memphis W 48-28
Arkansas (Ranked #22 at the time) L 34-30

Summary
Ole Miss doesn't lose many games by 6 points. They have covered with this spread 28 of last 32 games played and have played the tougher schedule this year in my opinion. LSU will have Leonard Fournette back in the game but if they can keep him somewhat contained I can see Ole Miss + 6 covering and possibly even winning on Saturday night.

Fade or follow guys.
Good luck to all of you gentlemen this week.
May the gambling gods shine down on all of you and fill your pockets with bags of Looooooooooooooooooooooooooooot!
