hey chad - what do you like about KC?

Atlanta has the best run defense - do you think they'll get steamrolled by holmes?

It's my system. A lot is rushing and rushing defense but also quality of opponents. I can't really break it all down and I know it looks ugly, but hey it's been working for me.

cool with me

I am on the other side because I don't see anything that puts these teams more than 3 points apart. Their only common opponent is Carolina - who atlanta reamed and KC lost to by 11... KC's only win was a squeaker at Baltimore - who is third to last in yds per game (last in passing yards [Atlanta is 3rd to last]), and nearly tied with Atlanta for second place in rush yds per game (BALT: 150 ATL: 147.2). On the defensive side however - Atlanta is leagues ahead of Baltimore allowing an average of only 75 rush yds per game (1st), where Baltimore allows over 104 yds per game (11th) on the ground.

Just some thoughts

I wish you luck!!

I like KC here as well. There is no way they will lose 3 in a row at arrowhead. Do you guys find it odd that a 1-4 team is favored over a 5-1 team?

detroit is no pushover - they arent the best but they have a better record than KC...

I dont mean to put too much emphasis on the records but even if you give KC the benefit of strength of schedule then there is no reason for KC to be more than a 3 pt favorite.

I think the 4 is worth the gamble

Sorry, I don't bet games because of who the two teams have played or what I think is going to happen. I have a spreadsheet and when I get a big gap in a line I hit it. But since you brought it up, who exactly has Atlanta played this season and won against? Yeah the Chiefs are nowhere near as good as last season, but Atlanta's defensive stats are grossly inflated due to their lack of real competition. Arrowhead when it starts getting cold out is a tough stadium, as tough as they come in the NFL.

I wont apologize for capping that way and you shouldnt have feel compelled to apologize either.

I wouldnt call convincing wins over St louis and at Carolina that bad. Sure both teams arent what they were last year - but add that to a 5-1 record which exhibits a level of play consistent enough to compete every week in this league and I like a 4 pt spread when I can get it. Especially against a team that has done just the mirror opposite this year. Carolina - houston - denver and jacksonville - these teams arent spectacular by any stretch - and though I have said they are better overall than what atlanta has faced - surely there would be some better indication of a blowout in arrowhead that their opposite records indicate that your spreadsheet is showing.

I dont see it and I'm just interested in what it is - so let me know if you get a chance.

As I outlined in my thread - I see this game as the team with the best rush defense in the league (in terms of yds allowed per game) going up against a team that needs Priest Holmes to be a factor in order to win against a decent team. You'll argue that Atlanta hasnt played anyone - but after 6 games in the nfl and still having an average rush yds per game stat under 75 I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Especially getting 4 pts.

I'm not trying to convince you to play them, just posting my play is all. Not sure what I am supposed to be saying here...

I was just asking what it was that your spreadsheet showed would put KC ahead.

You mentioned strength of schedule but I have been through who these teams played and all I'm saying is that it doesnt seem to add up.

Let me know what I am missing. If its something major then I'd like to know

Thanks chad

Classic case of a public team getting leftover points from last year.....Against a team like the Falcons who are semi public....they will have to entice the public into taking the Chiefs as a small favourite...the trap line....

They loose to denver then go home...and loose to the Panthers..a mediocre team in their own right....come back the next week at home and are beaten thoroughly by the Texans....In week 4 they take advantage of a quarterback who clearly does not belong in the NFL and barely beat the Ravens....House turns around and traps the public again making them a small road favourite over a clearly better football team....albeit they could have won....come up short again....now they once again favoured against a fairly stable Falcons team.....

They know the sharps will either play Falcons or lay off the game all together....At this point they need the Chiefs...Line sitting at 4 and should drop to three...because at this point even the public cannot be duped into believing this football team deserves to be favoured over anyone....

Might stay away from this one...

Sharps would take the Falcons huh? Some good stuff there.... The Chiefs were one bad throw in the endzone away from a 17 point lead on Houston and they were one kicker away from covering last week. Every kicker is allowed to have a bad game here and there though. The Chiefs O-line is going to man handle a very undersized D-Line and their lineman are athletic enough to get to ther second level and take out linebackers. They owned the Ravens on the ground and they ran a 3-4 just like the tweety birds. Baltimores D is a tad, just a smidgen better then Atlanta's. I think this is a very favorable match up for the Chiefs and they get it done here leading from start to finish behind a super star performance from the Priest.

thats all I was looking for - just trying to figure out where we disagree thats all - its in whether or not atlanta will be able to stop Priest.

Best of luck to you
