Kansas had 19 first downs and rushed for 173 yds and time of possession was even. 4 TO's did them in.

Russ I looked at the box score and KU played even with Texas, other than the TO's which were a killer. Had they not turned the ball over I think it would have been a different game. Not sure Baylor will be as giving this week

That is why I posted the complete box score instead of just throwing out a few of the stats. KU averaged more yds per rush than Texas. OU has finally got a big time OL that can wear down it's opponents and RB's who can take it from there. I think Oklahoma having had that extra week to get ready for this weeks game with Texas is the crowning blow. Plus this is a revenger for OU to boot. Look for Knight to run the ball also, they have kept him throttled up to now.

what do you think about lsu/auburn and ecu/smu? thanks russ

It is obvious that ECU can name the score. It will be hard to find a tout service that will be touting SMU. The line already went up by a TD could go more. It is such a public play that I will probably leave it alone though. I might throw it on a parlay or two but I am not betting the house. It almost looks too good to be true but if SMU shuts down a drive or two and holds ECU to a couple of FG's instead of TD's who knows. They will probably call off the dogs at some point and time. I am in no way saying take SMU.

Auburn is at home and this is their only revenge game this regular season.. I love Malzahn in this situation. He cuts no slack given the opportunity. Miss St exposed LSU and that win over Wisconsin does not look as good now as it did then. This is LSU's sixth game in a row and although they played Wisconsin on a neutral site this is their first true road game. I love the OC and the DC at LSU but Malzahn is the HC and the OC. Malzahn may reach deep into his playbook for this one. The best Miles can do is an onside kick or going for it on 4th down. But....Malzahn can do that and more. I can find no reason to bet on SMU and the same goes for LSU. Not that they can't possibly win but barring some unusual twists and turns I think this is a circle game for Malzahn, not something any opponent should look forward to. BOL

[h=1]Les Miles names Brandon Harris LSU's starting QB vs. Auburn[/h]By Jerry Hinnen | College Football Writer

Brandon Harris completed 11 of 14 passes for 178 yards against New Mexico State. (USATSI)After the performances of Brandon Harris and Anthony Jennings in LSU's blowout of New Mexico State on Saturday night, it seemed the only mystery regarding the Tigers' quarterback situation was when -- not if -- Les Miles would name Harris, a true freshman, the team's starter.Somewhat surprisingly, the mystery didn't last past Miles' press conference Monday afternoon. Of course, with it being Les Miles and all, he just couldn't put it in the usual terms:
Miles later confirmed that, yes, what the above statement meant is that Harris will make his first career start when the Tigers travel to Auburn on Saturday for a massive SEC West showdown.
Many LSU fans will argue the decision should have been made before the Tigers' home loss to Mississippi State (when Harris led a last-ditch rally that came up short), but both quarterbacks essentially made Miles' choice for him against the Aggies. Jennings began the game 2 of 5 for 11 yards, throwing a pair of interceptions and fumbling before getting the hook for Harris. The four-star freshman from Bossier City, La., responded by leading the Tigers to a touchdown on all seven of his series.
For the season, Harris has outperformed Jennings, a sophomore, in every meaningful statistical category: completion percentage (73.3 to 50.6), yards-per-attempt (13.1 to 8.8.), touchdown-to-interception-ratio (6/1 to 5/3) and even rushing yardage (108 yards on 16 attempts to 76 on 38).
None of that means giving a true freshman his first career start on the road, at night, against the nation's No. 5 team and one of LSU's biggest rivals is Miles' optimal scenario. But after last Saturday, it certainly seems a better situation than the alternative.

Ole Miss only scored 7 points against Boise St thru the first 3 quarters and only 7 against Memphis in the first half. They did better against Vandy and La Laf but so what. If they continue to be slow out of the gate against Alabama do you see them scoring 28 in the 4th quarter like they did against Boise St. No way. Sabin knows that stopping Ole Miss early is the key and he has a capable offense and could jump to an early lead. If so it will be game set match. If Ole Miss gets out of the gate then we shall see. But Ole Miss has not gone up against a physical team like Alabama. Alabama had last week off and even though this is their first true road game this season they are ready willing and able for this matchup. If they take the crowd out of the game early it will help also. Keep in mind that following Alabama the Rebels play at Texas A&M, Tenn, at LSU, and Auburn. Could they drop 5 in a row. Alabama turns around next week and plays at Arkansas who has this week of coming off of a heart breaker against A&M. I think Ole Miss gets a reality check this weekend and that Alabama will physically dominate them and at the very least wear them down. Bama does have some big play guys and they will probably be the difference. If Ole Miss wins this one look out, maybe they could sweep those other teams but I don't see that happening. Sabin has been there and done that. Hugh Freeze has his team off to a 4-0 start but his team lost 5 conference games last year. I think we will see Ole Miss for what the really are this weekend and I don't see them at 5-0 when all is said and done. The visitors have dominated this series lately and I think that continues this weekend. Bama needs a win over a top 25 team and I think Saban having the extra week to prepare is the difference factor.
