the storm surge is really incredible with this one. ocean arrived 2 days ago. the amount of rainfall with this hurricane is supposed to be around 20 inches where i live. it looks like it will be hitting further south than me, but still plan on leaving this afternoon. i have been through many hurricanes but most of them category 1 or 2. once it hits landfall it will always lose power and slowly go north until its gone. the expected rainfall is a major concern. that much rain and heavy winds means a lot of trees will fall and who knows what else. there will unquestionably be a lot of damage simply from the amount of water both from the storm surge and rainfall. the category of the hurricane is based on the wind but all the water accompanied with the wind causes equal damage. you plan for the worst and hope for the best.

Possibly. This one is slated to head South, not North. I’m almost 200 miles inland, and expected to get up to 10 inches of rain here. It’s also supposed to last through the weekend now. GA only appears to be getting 2 inches or so of rain, but if major interstates like I85 flood out, who knows what travel will be like for the teams and attendance numbers. I know I wouldn’t want any bodies on me by letting the games go on...
Another thing to consider is emergency personnel and law enforcement to allow games to go on. If they get dispatched out of town/state to help with disaster relief and aren’t available, the games cannot be played. This plays just as big a role as the weather that some forget I believe...
