Try this, it worked for me but it took me a few years to figure out the fix.
Click on your name
then where it says, "welcome Game9000", top mid right of page in the blue bar ,click on SETTINGS
then on far left mid page under "My Account" click on General settings
Then you will see at the very bottom " Miscellaneous settings" ( THIS IS WHERE YOU FIX THE PROBLEM)
you have "enhanced editor" box checked----- NO GOOD
switch to "standard editor"-

Message Editor Interface:
Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing
Basic Editor - A simple text box
Standard Editor - Extra formatting controls
