Hey fellow gamblers, I'm new to the site and I want to see if I got what it takes to be a handicapper. Fade or follow my picks, it's your choice. I will respond to posts if you have a reasonable question for me. However, I don't respond to any attacks on me, because I think it's a waste of time to talk garbage on the internet. I also rate my plays by 1 to 5 * to show my level of confidence in them. Anyways, let's get to it:

Friday 3/20/09

  • Charlotte -1 @ Toronto: Bobcats are 4-2 ATS on their last 6 road games and Raptors are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games. Bobcats and Raptors are pretty much full strength. Bobcats are trying to get in the playoffs being 1.5 games out of the 8th seed, so the motivation factor plays in here. Bobcats also whooped the Raptors by 26 in Charlotte. Charlotte covered +9 last time they played in Toronto. 4* play.

  • OKC +5 vs. Utah: Thunder are 7-3 and 1 push ATS in their last 11 games. Jazz are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games. Jazz aren't a consistent team on the road, and the Thunder haven't lost ATS in b2b home games since December 8th and 10th. Both teams are full strength. Thunder beat the Jazz in OKC by 11 on January 14th and the Jazz were -5 also. 3* play.

  • Memphis +11.5 @ New Orleans: Grizllies are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games. Hornets are 2-4 ATS in their last 6 home games. Chris Paul and David West will most likely run wild on Mike Conley Jr. and Darrell Arthur, but Hakim Warrick has been stepping his game up. I'm somewhat confident in the play of O.J. Mayo and Rudy Gay to help keep this game close. Hornets might play w/o Stojakovic and Chandler again. Grizzlies might play without Greg Buckner and Darko Millic, but the Hornets injuries are more hurtful to their team. Memphis lost by 19 last time they played in New Orleans. 2* play.
That's all for today, BOL.

Well, I hit on my 4* play so I made a small profit. Hey, a win's a win. Let's look at a couple of early spreads for tomorrow.

YTD 1-2

Saturday 3/21/09

  • Chicago +4 vs. L.A. Lakers - The Lakers have been blowing leads like crazy and they haven't been consistent on the road lately, going 3-4 ATS in their last 7 road games and 0-3 ATS in their last 3 home games. The Bulls are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 home games and have been beating good teams at home lately like the Celtics, Hornets, Magic and Nuggets. Since Bynum got injured, the Lakers are 11-11 ATS. Since Luol Deng got injured, the Bulls are 5-1 ATS with 1 push. Other than those two, both teams have no other injuries. The Bulls covered +12.5 the only time they played the Lakers this season. 4* play.

  • Knicks vs. Magic over 215 - Last time these two played, they combined for 223 points in New York. Except for that game in Cleveland, the Knicks have been dropping 100+ in their road games like nothing. The Magic have been consistent in 100+ home games as well. Al Harrington looks like he'll play with his ankle problems, but he dropped 21 points last game and I don't think it will be a problem. Magic are at full strength and Alston has been filling in nicely for Jameer Nelson. 3* play.

  • Hawks +8.5 @ Cavs - This is a tough one to call. With Atlanta's 7-0 ATS streak in their home stretch, it should be time to fade them. However, the Cavs 0-3 ATS streak at home worries me though. It looks like they are struggling against teams who they should be able to beat easily at home, like the Lakers. Now with Varejao struggling with quad problems, I think Atlanta will win the rebound game and Wally Szczerbiak's absence thins out Cleveland's bench even more. Hawks look fine playing without Marvin Williams, but their numerous turnovers last game is what makes this a crap shoot, so it should be a small play. 1* play.
If there's any other bets that look good to me, I'll post them tomorrow. BOL.

Al Harrington is now listed as day-to-day with a sore achilles, I think he will play but with limited minutes because he rested Friday vs. Sacramento. Magic & Knicks over 215 are still a 3* play for me.

Well, the Lakers actually covered a game and Knicks/Magic went under by 2 lousy points, but it happens. Here's some early spreads for today:

YTD: 2-4

Sunday March 22, 2009

  • Houston & San Antonio under 177 - In 2 of the 3 games they played each other this season, the total went under. The total has gone under in the last 6 of 8 games for both Rockets and Spurs. Spurs are on a 4 game under streak. Both teams are healthy. I look for this to be a very defensive game. Their last game against each other went under 182. 4* play.

  • L.A. Clippers +4 @ Toronto - The Raptors are the ultimate fade team this season so far losing 61% of the time ATS. The Clippers aren't much better but are 4-3 ATS in their last 7, so at least that's something. No significant injuries here. The Clippers did lose by 22 last time they played this season but those were two different teams.
    2* play.

  • Cleveland -6.5 @ New Jersey - The Cavs haven't been covering well recently, just 2-7 in their last 9 games. However, I think the Nets are too banged up right now to handle the Cavs at home. Devin Harris, Eduardo Najera, Sean Williams are out, and now Ryan Anderson is doubtful for the Nets. Other than Szczerbiak being out for Cleveland, there aren't any other significant injuries. I think the Cavs are due for a cover and 7 points is reasonable against the Nets. Cavs won by 24 against the Nets last time they played in New Jersey. 3* play.
That's all for today, BOL.

My 4* and 3* play hit yesterday so I had a nice profit, I didn't this the Clippers could be worse than the Raptors, but then again, they are the Clippers. Let's look at some spreads I like today:

YTD: 4-5

March 23, 2009

  • Phoenix & Denver over 237 - When the line is set this high, oddsmakers knows that this will be a scoring spree. These two teams have been shooting 100+ in the last 5 games. Some might be concerned that since Barbosa is out, the Suns scoring will decrease. But, I think Jason Richardson will step up and put up more points. Nuggets are healthy. Nuggets and Suns scored a total of 232 the last time they met in Denver. 4* play.

  • Philadelphia +8 @ Portland - Blazers are on a 4 game covering streak and 76ers 2-2 ATS in their last 4 games. The 76ers are looking to hold on their playoff spot in the East, so I think that this game will be close, but Portland will probably win by 3 or 4. Another thing is that the Blazers are thin at the Forward position since now Nicolas Batum is questionable for this game. Philadelphia has no significant injuries. 76ers beat the Blazers by 21 last time they played in Philly, but that was with Elton Brand. 3* play.

  • Memphis +9 @ Miami - I am a Heat fan but I can't ignore that Memphia is 15-8 ATS in their last 23 games and Miami is 11-12. Miami will probably win the game, but I think it will be in the 5-7 range. Memphis and Miami have no significant injuries. Grizzlies beat the Heat by 16 last time they played in Memphis, but that was before Jermaine O'Neal was traded to the Heat. However, since it's the Grizzlies, I don't want to bank too much on them. 2* play.
That's all for today, BOL.

The Denver/Phoenix game went under by 4 points and the Grizzlies got their butts whipped. Oh well, at least Philly covered. Here's what I got for today's games.

YTD: 5-7

March 24, 2009

  • L.A. Lakers & OKC under 207: The Thunder are on a 5 game under streak and the Lakers last 4 of 6 games went under. The Lakers are just looking to get through to the end of the season without any more injuries, so I don't think they'll play hard on offense. The Thunder are looking to their home crowd they can play competitively against good teams. No significant injuries for either team. The total went under the two times they played each other this season. 4* play.

  • Chicago -5.5 vs. Detroit - Bulls have been 0-2 so far on this home stand but I think the Pistons are too banged up to play well on the road with Rasheed, Rip and A.I. out tonight. Tim Thomas is questionable for the Bulls, but I don't think it's a major injury for the team. Pistons lost ATS in their last game vs. Miami and I forsee more to come with their major players out. 3* play.

  • Golden State +9 @ San Antonio - When Tim Duncan is questionable and the Spurs are still favored, the smart play is the underdog. The Warriors have some injuries and the Jamal Crawford drama, but if Duncan is playing limited minutes, I see the Warriors keeping this close. Also, Spurs are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games. The Warriors only lost by 5 the last time they played each other. 3* play.
That's all for today, BOL.

3-0 last night and I blazed a big fatty w/ my girl in celebration. Let's see if I can keep up the hot streak. Here's my picks for tonight:

YTD: 8-7

March 25, 2009

  • Atlanta -6.5 @ San Antonio - Tim Duncan is doubtful tonight because of resting his weak knees. Hit this one and hit it hard. Hawks are on a crazy train ATS streak right now, 9-0. If Duncan was playing, I would fade the Hawks, but since he isn't, I'm really excited about this pick. Some may think that -6.5 maybe a trap because everyone and their mother would take the Hawks tonight. However, the only other injury besides Marvin Williams is Acie Law and he's not a big factor for the Hawks. I see Hawks winning this by double digits. Last time the Hawks played the Spurs, they covered +6.5 ATS and that was with Duncan and Ginobili. 5* play.

  • Magic & Celtics under 188.5 - Magic are on a 5 game under streak, Celtics last 3 of 5 went over. Big thing here is KG is playing limited minutes, significant loss of points for the Celtics. Celtics know how to handle the Magic defensively. Other than Leon Powe, no big injuries for the Celtics. No significant injuries for the Magic. The last two times these teams played, the total went under. 3* play.

  • Utah & Phoenix under 228 - Too many points here for a good defensive Jazz team. Usually when the line is set this high, it makes gamblers think twice about a scoring spree occuring. However, it may be because Deron Williams got injured last game against Houston. I don't think it's a serious injury and he's probable tonight. Leandro Barbosa is still out for the Suns. The total has gone over both times these two played, but 228 is too big IMO. They only socred 206 and 210 total in those two games. 3* play.

  • Indiana +1 vs. Miami - This one is tough for me but I can't argue against logic. Wade can't beat the Pacers in Indiana, it doesn't matter who he has around him. Now with a banged up Jermaine O'Neal, I seriously doubt the Heat will make this competitive. Pacers are missing their small fowards Murphy and Dunleavy but I don't think it matters because Miami's Jamario Moon will get whipped by Danny Granger. Probably just to piss me off, the Pacers will bring back Jamal Tinsley because he always kills Miami. Anyway, enough venting, this is a 1* bet for me because I always bet small against my team. For everyone else, a 3* bet for sure.
That's all for today, BOL.

What can I say, the Spurs covered with Tony Parker going off with 42 and the Utah/Phoenix game squeaked by with over 228. Oh well, a little loss but so far a winning record. Here's what I got for tonight:

YTD: 10-9

March 26, 2009

  • Miami & Chicago over 202.5 - Miami last 3 of 5 went under, Chicago's last 3 of 5 went over. The key here is it looks like Derrick Rose might play tonight coming back from a wrist injury. Derrick Rose makes the difference because he can put up double digits at will. Miami's at full strength and I don't think they will have the same offensive problems as they did with the Pacers. Last time these two played, the total went over 202. 4* play.

  • Phoenix +6.5 @ Portland - Phoenix and Portland have been covering ATS well recently, Phoenix is 5-1 and Portland is 4-2 in their last six games. However, the injuries are mounting up for the Blazers; Nicolas Batum and Brandon Roy battling ankle injuries and Travis Outlaw questionable with a finger injury. Since the Suns are relatively healthy, I see them keeping this one close. Phoenix lost ATS in Phoenix but won ATS in Portland in the two games they played this season. 3* play.

  • L.A. Lakers -8.5 @ Detroit - Still skeptical on this one. Lakers have covered in their last 4 road games but can't cover at home for some reason. Detroit still has Rasheed, Rip and A.I. out. Lakers are healthy. I see a double digit win here, but they are the Lakers so be careful. They did lose to Detroit early in the season but injuries have changed both rosters. 2* play.
That's all for today, BOL.

Well, the Suns could not play D and the Heat forgot they had a basketball game yesterday. Here's my picks for tonight:

YTD: 11-12

March 27, 2009

  • Minnesota +14 @ Cleveland - I think this is too many points here. The T-Wolves can still play some ball and keep games within 10 points of good teams. Cleveland is now 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games. Wally's still out for the Cavs, Mike Miller has an unknown injury but I hear it's not serious so he'll probably play. Cavs blew out the T-wolves by 23 in Minnesota, but that's when the Cavs wanted to prove that they were a force. Now, the Cavs just want to get to the end of the season wihtout any more injuries. 4* play.

  • Spurs & Clippers under 192 - I think the Spurs are going to light it up tonight, 100+ easy, but the Clippers are inept on offenseagainst good defenses and sometimes crappy defenses. I am predicting a 103 - 80 win here for the Spurs. Spurs -11 might be a good play, but I will lay off it because I don't trust double digit favorites. Tim Duncan is going to play, Clippers have Mardy Collins questionable but he's not a big factor. They have not played each other this season. 3* play.

  • OKC & Toronto overr 200.5 - Both defenses are terrible. Kevin Durant is probable tonight. Jose Calderon is probable. The Thunder's under streak is now at 6 games and I think it ends tonight. The Raptors have scored 100+ in 3 of their last 5. It should set up for a 110 - 107 kind of game. The total went under 199.5 last time they played, so this is a small play. 1* play.
That's all for today, BOL.

Well, Minnesota sucks and the Clippers put up enough points for an over. From now on, I will just post my picks without any writings explaining why. I think that I have been writing too much and less is more. Here's my picks for today:

YTD: 12-14

March 28, 2009:

  • Charlotte -6.5 vs. New York - 4* play
  • Bulls & Pacers under 209 - 3* play
  • Phoenix +8.5 @ Utah - 1* play
That's all for today, BOL.
