GAME: Miami Marlins (45-53) at Texas Rangers (49-51)
DATE/TIME: Wednesday, July 26 - 8:05 PM EST
WHERE: Globe Life Park in Arlington, Arlington, Texas
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Yu Darvish could be making his final start in a Texas uniform when the Rangers host the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night in the rubber match of a three-game series. With the trade deadline looming and Darvish set to become a free agent after the season, Texas general manager Jon Daniels was making it known that the Japanese standout is available.

A number of teams reportedly are pursuing Darvish, chief among them the Los Angeles Dodgers, so Daniels' asking price will not be cheap. Joey Gallo clubbed a pair of homers and the Rangers walloped four in all to win for the fourth time in five games and remain 3 1/2 games out of the second wild card in the American League. Marlins left fielder Christian Yelich had only two extra-base hits in his previous 10 games before driving in all of Miami's runs in Tuesday's 10-4 loss with a homer and a pair of doubles. Marlins right-hander José Ureña, unbeaten on the road this season, opposes Darvish in the series finale.

TV: 8:05 p.m. ET, FSN Florida (Miami), FSN Southwest (Texas)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Marlins RH José Ureña (8-4, 3.78 ERA) vs. Rangers RH Yu Darvish (6-8, 3.44)

Despite having just a slightly lower ERA away from home, Urena improved to 5-0 in 10 appearances on the road after limiting Cincinnati to one run on three hits over a season high-tying six innings last time out. The 25-year-old Dominican struggled in his previous two turns, giving up eight runs in eight innings while surrendering four home runs. Urena owns an 0.84 WHIP on the road compared to 1.62 at home.

Darvish struck out 12 over eight innings last time out at Tampa Bay but surrendered three solo home runs and settled for a no-decision to run his winless drought to seven starts. The Japan native is 0-4 in that span and winless since June 12 despite posting a quality start in five of his last six trips to the mound. In his lone start against the Marlins, Darvish tossed his only career shutout and first complete game in 2014.

WALK-OFFS

1. Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre remains seven hits shy of 3,000 for his career.

2. The Marlins placed 1B Justin Bour on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday due to a strained right oblique.

3. Gallo's 25th homer came in Texas' 100th game and is the fewest number of contests for a Texas player to hit 25 since Josh Hamilton in 2012 (79).

GAME: Chicago Cubs (52-47) at Chicago White Sox (39-58)
DATE/TIME: Wednesday, July 26 - 8:10 PM EST
WHERE: Guaranteed Rate Field, Chicago, Illinois
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

After splitting two games at Wrigley Field, the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox head to the South Side to continue the annual Crosstown Cup on Wednesday. The Cubs hope to continue their second-half surge and keep pace in the tightening National League Central race, while the last-place White Sox look to play spoiler at home against their crosstown rivals.

The Cubs evened the series with a 7-2 victory Tuesday, improving to 9-2 since the All-Star break and remaining a half-game behind Milwaukee in the NL Central. Catcher Willson Contreras continued his recent tear with a home run and four RBIs and is hitting .341 with five home runs and 15 RBIs since the All-Star break. The White Sox have lost 13 of their last 15 games, including nine of 10 since the break. The White Sox have dropped five straight at home, where they haven’t won since July 2.

TV: 8:10 p.m. ET, ESPN, ABC 7 (Cubs), CSN Chicago (White Sox)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Cubs RH Jake Arrieta (9-7, 4.11 ERA) vs. White Sox RH James Shields (2-2, 5.79)

Arrieta has pitched well in two starts since the All-Star break, allowing four runs (three earned) over 12 2/3 innings. The 31-year-old has recorded three quality starts in his last four outings and was one out away in the other. Arrieta is 3-1 with a 4.14 ERA in seven meetings with the White Sox.

Shields has notched only two quality starts in nine outings this season and has made it through six innings just three times. The 35-year-old was tagged for six runs and 10 hits in 4 1/3 innings Friday at Kansas City, but he didn’t factor in the decision. Shields is 2-0 with a 2.67 ERA in four starts against the Cubs, including a win last season in which he threw 7 2/3 scoreless frames.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Cubs have hit 23 first-inning home runs, second-most in the majors, after hitting 25 homers in the opening frame last season.

2. White Sox 2B Yoan Moncada is 2-for-20 with six strikeouts in six games since being called up July 19.

3. Cubs OF Jon Jay has reached base in seven straight plate appearances.

GAME: Colorado Rockies (58-44) at St. Louis Cardinals (49-51)
DATE/TIME: Wednesday, July 26 - 8:15 PM EST
WHERE: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, Missouri
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Paul DeJong has created quite the buzz during his two months in the majors, with his impressive performance in July helping the St. Louis Cardinals remain in contention in the National League Central. After belting his third homer in four contests, DeJong looks to send the Cardinals to a three-game sweep of the visiting Colorado Rockies on Wednesday.

DeJong belted a two-run shot to ignite his third straight multi-hit performance in Tuesday's 3-2 triumph, giving the 23-year-old three homers, seven RBIs and four runs scored in his last five games. St. Louis has won 21 of its last 26 against Colorado at Busch Stadium, while the latter's current road woes have been underscored by losses in 15 of its last 18 such games to fall into the NL's second wild-card spot. Trevor Story homered for the third time in six outings and is riding a four-game hitting streak into Wednesday's tilt. Carlos Gonzalez carries a six-game hitting streak into the contest versus St. Louis right-hander Carlos Martinez, against whom he is just 2-for-11 in his career with three strikeouts.

TV: 8:15 p.m. ET, AT&T SportsNet-Rocky Mountain (Colorado), FSN Midwest (St. Louis)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies RH Jeff Hoffman (6-2, 5.10 ERA) vs. Cardinals RH Carlos Martinez (6-8, 3.34)

Hoffman sustained his first loss in a calendar month on Friday after allowing seven runs and career-high totals in hits (nine) and walks (four) in a season-low three innings against Pittsburgh. "It was my fastball command. I couldn't locate it," the 24-year-old told reporters. "Especially when I needed it. When you can't locate that one it is really hard to get out of any kind of jam." Hoffman takes his show on the road where he has pitched considerably better, posting a 4-0 mark with a 2.45 ERA while allowing opposing batters to hit just .197 against him as opposed to a 2-2 record with a 7.79 ERA and .316 average at Coors Field.

Martinez saw his winless stretch extend to six outings on Friday after he yielded three runs on 10 hits in six innings of a no-decision at the Chicago Cubs. The 25-year-old Dominican is 0-3 in that stretch and can blame his penchant for serving up homers for his troubles, as he was taken deep once versus the Cubs and eight times during his last six trips to the mound. Martinez's lone loss in May came at the hands of Colorado after he yielded three runs on six hits in 7 1/3 innings of a 10-0 rout.

WALK-OFFS

1. Colorado LF Gerardo Parra is 14-for-26 with eight runs scored during his seven-game hitting streak.

2. St. Louis C Yadier Molina has recorded back-to-back 2-for-4 performances in this series and hit safely in seven of his last eight contests.

3. Rockies 3B Nolan Arenado is 1-for-14 with five strikeouts in his last four games versus the Cardinals.

GAME: New York Mets (47-51) at San Diego Padres (43-57)
DATE/TIME: Wednesday, July 26 - 10:10 PM EST
WHERE: Petco Park, San Diego, California
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

After exiting Tuesday’s game with an injury, Yoenis Cespedes hopes to be in the starting lineup Wednesday as the New York Mets continue their four-game series against the host San Diego Padres. Cespedes broke out of a lengthy slump with three extra-base hits and three RBIs in Tuesday’s 6-5 victory as the Mets won for the sixth time in their last seven games.

Addison Reed, one of several Mets players on the trading block this week, recorded his 12th straight save while Curtis Granderson provided a spark from the leadoff spot with two hits and two runs scored. Cespedes entered the game in a 17-for-79 slump but homered for the first time since June 23 and legged out a triple before leaving in the seventh inning with quad tightness. San Diego (43-57) has fallen 14 games below .500 and faces a dilemma in the closer’s role following Monday’s trade of Brandon Maurer to Kansas City. Manager Andy Green has several in-house candidates available, including Phil Maton, Kirby Yates and All-Star setup man Brad Hand, who could be moved by the rebuilding Padres before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline.

TV: 10:10 p.m. ET, SNY (New York), FSN San Diego

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets LH Steven Matz (2-3, 4.67 ERA) vs. Padres RH Jhoulys Chacin (9-7, 4.26)

Matz owns a 13.06 ERA over his last three starts after allowing three runs on nine hits in five frames against Oakland on Friday. The 26-year-old has pitched well away from Citi Field, going 9-5 with a 3.27 ERA in 19 career road starts, including 2-1 with a 2.59 ERA in five outings this season. His only previous start against San Diego was a memorable one on Aug. 14, 2016 - which would prove to be the final outing of his season - when he earned the victory after taking a no-hitter into the eighth inning.

Chacin was scheduled to start Tuesday's game but was given an extra day of rest after showing up Monday with a tight back. The 29-year-old Venezuela won his third consecutive decision Thursday, allowing two runs on four hits over six innings in a 5-2 victory over San Francisco. Lucas Duda is 3-for-6 with two homers against Chacin, who has gone 1-5 with a 6.50 ERA in eight career games (seven starts) against the Mets.

WALK-OFFS

1. Padres C Austin Hedges (concussion) hopes to be activated from the disabled list later this week.

2. Mets 2B Neil Walker (hamstring) continued his rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday and hopes to return as soon as Thursday.

3. San Diego optioned RHP Jose Ruiz to High-A Lake Elsinore to make room for RHP Kyle Lloyd, who made his major-league debut Tuesday.

GAME: Minnesota Twins (49-50) at Los Angeles Dodgers (70-31)
DATE/TIME: Wednesday, July 26 - 10:10 PM EST
WHERE: Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Chris Taylor didn't make the Opening Day roster for the Los Angeles Dodgers in part due to the team's concern about his ability to play the outfield, but all he has done since his mid-April promotion is provide a steady outfield glove and one of the best bats in the National League. The Dodgers eye their 36th win in 42 contests Wednesday when they attempt a three-game home sweep of the Minnesota Twins.

Taylor has appeared in the lineup 71 times at five different positions since arriving in Los Angeles on April 19 and committed only one error in 48 games (47 starts) in the outfield, but his offensive contribution has been every bit as good, ranking sixth in the NL with a .321 average. The 26-year-old Virginia native continued to swing a red-hot stick in Tuesday's 6-2 victory, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs for his fourth consecutive multi-hit game while also boosting his average after the All-Star break to .512. While the Dodgers' fourth straight victory increased their major-league best home record to 43-13 and gave them a 12 1/2-game lead in the NL West, Minnesota's third consecutive defeat dropped it below .500 for the first time since April 24 (49-50). The Twins, who have lost four of five overall, trail Cleveland by 4 1/2 games in the American League Central and have surrendered 32 runs during their 1-4 stretch.

TV: 10:10 p.m. ET, FSN North (Minnesota), SportsNet LA (Los Angeles)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Twins RH Ervin Santana (11-7, 3.26 ERA) vs. Dodgers RH Brock Stewart (0-0, 0.00)

Santana has been extremely inconsistent since ending May with a 7-2 record and 1.75 ERA, giving up at least five runs five times and two or fewer runs in his other four outings. The two-time All-Star is coming off another poor turn Friday against Detroit, surrendering five runs on seven hits - including a pair of homers - and two walks while throwing 95 pitches over only 3 1/3 innings. Santana got the win with six innings of two-run ball the last time he faced Dodgers in 2014, improving to 5-4 with a 3.24 ERA in nine starts against them.

Stewart, who battled an illness over the weekend, will make his first start of the season Wednesday after six scoreless appearances out of the bullpen, including two innings of work against Atlanta on Thursday. The 25-year-old Illinois State product, who has permitted only five hits and three walks in 13 frames, struggled in his first five career starts in 2016, going 2-2 with a 6.38 ERA. Stewart, who has also thrown four scoreless innings in interleague play in his career, is allowing opposing hitters to bat only .122 against him.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Dodgers (70-31) on Tuesday became only the fifth team in the expansion era to reach 70 wins by its 101st game of the season.

2. Minnesota 3B Miguel Sano (hand) was a late scratch Tuesday and underwent X-rays on his injured hand, which came back negative. Sano flew out as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning.

3. Los Angeles' starting pitchers have allowed two runs or fewer in 72 of their 101 games and one run or less 50 times.

Giants trade infielder Eduardo Nunez to Red Sox
July 26, 2017

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Infielder Eduardo Nunez was traded from the San Francisco Giants to the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night for minor league right-handers Shaun Anderson and Gregory Santos.

The deal was finalized during San Francisco's 11-3 win over Pittsburgh and announced after the game.

Nunez started at third base, hit a two-run double and scored twice before he was removed for a pinch hitter in the fifth inning. The infielder, who was hit by a pitch on the left elbow earlier in the game, was shown on television shaking hands with teammates in the Giants clubhouse.

The 30-year-old hit .308 in 76 games with San Francisco this season and has reached base safely in 40 of his last 42 games. Nunez drove in 31 runs and had a team-high 17 stolen bases despite being slowed by a hamstring injury this month.

The move could clear the way for the Giants to recall Pablo Sandoval from the minors. The 2012 World Series MVP with the Giants, Sandoval signed a minor league contract with San Francisco last weekend after he was released by Boston, which signed him to a $95 million, five-year deal after the 2014 season.

He hit just .237 with 14 homers and 59 RBIs during 2+ injury-decimated seasons with the Red Sox. Sandoval has played for Class A San Jose and Triple-A Sacramento since rejoining the Giants organization.

Giants pitchers Jeff Samardzija and Johnny Cueto are could be dealt before Monday's trade deadline.

MLB | Orioles vs Rays
Play on: Rays -144 at betonline

Free Pick on Rays -

Tampa Bay snapped their 5-game losing streak on Tuesday and I look for them to carry over that momentum in the series finale here against the Orioles. For starters, Baltimore is an ideal team to fade away from home, as they are just 18-31 on the road this season. The real key though is the edge the Rays have on the mound with the red-hot Alex Cobb squaring off against the struggling Ubaldo Jimenez.

After missing all of 2015 and making just 5 starts in 2016, Cobb is having a huge rebound season. He's currently 8-6 with a 3.57 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 20 starts and is trending much better than that of late. Cobb has a 1.54 ERA and 0.728 WHIP in his last 3 starts and owns a 2.75 ERA and 0.970 WHIP in 8 home starts. Jimenez on the other hand is 4-6 with a 7.82 ERA and 1.724 WHIP in 15 starts overall, 7.53 ERA in 8 road starts and an ugly 10.29 ERA and 2.214 WHIP in his last 3 outings. Take Tampa Bay!
