KEY STAT: There has not been a draw in ten previous meetings

EXPERT VERDICT: Germany have been quite slack since winning the World Cup, losing to Argentina and Poland. Joachim Low’s side have also conceded against Australia, Ireland and Scotland this season and USA showed they possess plenty of attacking intent in Friday’s 4-3 win over Holland.

RECOMMENDATION: Both teams to score

KEY STAT: The home team has won the last five meetings between these teams

EXPERT VERDICT: Chile have not been past the quarter-finals of the Copa America since 1999 but they won’t get a better chance to improve on that given the tournament hosts are on home soil with a crop of players who have the potential to go down as legends. However, that brings its own pressure and they may need to show patience in their opener against Ecuador.

RECOMMENDATION: Draw-Chile double result

KEY STAT: Wales haven’t beaten Belgium in the last five meetings

EXPERT VERDICT: This top-of-the-table clash could be a cracker, as only goal difference separates the pair in Group B. Belgium have scored 13 goals in five qualifying games and can take advantage of a Welsh defence weakened by injuries, but the confident hosts have Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey in their ranks.

RECOMMENDATION: Both teams to score

KEY STAT: Mexico have won only two of their last seven Copa America matches

EXPERT VERDICT: Mexico bombed out of the last Copa America, scoring once as they lost all three matches, and while they should give a much better account this time it’s worth remembering this is essentially a B squad. Even so, powder-puff minnows Bolivia are unlikely to take advantage.

RECOMMENDATION: Mexico to win 1-0

KEY STAT: Only one goal has been scored in four of the last six meetings between the pair

EXPERT VERDICT: Ireland warmed up for this crucial Group D clash with a dismally dull 0-0 friendly against England and will have to show more of a goal threat if they’re to worry Scotland. Defeat for the hosts would all but end their chances of qualifying for Euro 2016, but the Scots are in cracking form and the draw looks the value.

KEY STAT: Romania have conceded only one goal in five qualifiers

EXPERT VERDICT: Despite claiming four wins from five Group F outings, Northern Ireland still have a long way to go if they’re to achieve their goals of reaching the Euro finals. Northern Ireland's sole defeat came against Romania last November and Anghel Iordanescu’s visitors have yet to lose during their qualifying campaign.

Game of the Day: Lightning at Blackhawks

Tampa Bay Lightning at Chicago Blackhawks (-155, 5.5)

Lightning leads series 2-1

With questions clouding his availability, Ben Bishop more than answered the bell to help the Tampa Bay Lightning claim a 2-1 series lead in the Stanley Cup final. Regardless of what ails him, the 6-7 goaltender looks to stand tall as he attempts to propel the Lightning to within one win of the franchise's second championship when they visit the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 4 on Wednesday.

"It's going to take a lot not to play in a Stanley Cup final game, personally," said Bishop, who turned aside 36 shots in Tampa Bay's 3-2 win on Monday despite visibly laboring to both stand and move laterally. Bishop improved to 8-3 with a 1.50 goals-against average and .947 save percentage on the road for the Lightning, who have won four straight away from home and a franchise-best eight this postseason. Although the Blackhawks have dropped consecutive games for the first time in the playoffs, they are no stranger to overcoming a 2-1 series deficit in the Stanley Cup final - having done so against Boston in 2013. "For whatever reason, we play our best games when our backs are against the wall," defenseman Brent Seabrook said.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, NBCSN, CBC, TVA Sports

LINE HISTORY: The Blackhawks opened at -150 favorites before being bet to -155. The total opened at 5.5 and has remained there.

INJURY REPORT: Lightning - D Mattias Ohlund (IR-Knee) Blackhawks - Michal Rozsival (Out-Ankle)

WHAT CAPPERS SAY: "The Blackhawks out-shot the Lightning in game three by a 38-32 margin and those 38 shots were the most any team has had in the first three games of this series. Additionally, the Hawks converted on one of their two power play chances, while the Bolts went 0 for 2 on the night. Unfortunately, Chicago's best period was the first, when it outshot Tampa Bay, 19-7. It was actually outshot by a 25-19 count over the final two periods. Bishop was spectacular in goal, as he saved 36 shots -- many of them quite difficult saves. But whether he will be able to duplicate that performance on Wednesday is the $64,000 question." Covers Expert Al McMordie

WHAT BOOKS SAY: "We’ve done extremely well during the playoffs because bettors won’t back the Lightning, and I just don’t get it. If you watch these games, they outplay their opponent just about every night. It’s a great defensive team that can quickly capitalize on mistakes. Don’t be surprised if Tampa Bay steals another low-scoring affair on the road." John Lester, senior lines manager for Bookmaker.eu.

ABOUT THE LIGHTNING: Coach Jon Cooper had no issue heaping praise toward Victor Hedman after the defenseman feathered a pair of highlight-reel passes en route to his second straight two-assist performance on Monday. "Victor Hedman, what he's doing, I mean, this is clearly his coming-out party," Cooper said of Hedman, whose 13 assists are just five shy of Chicago's Duncan Keith and Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf for the overall lead. "(Hedman) sets that (first goal) up and then makes a big-time play on the winner (by Cedric Paquette with 3:11 remaining in the third period). He was a monster out there." Hedman's involvement on the offensive end has been a boon for Tampa Bay, which boasts a 9-1 mark in the postseason when the blue-liner records at least one point.

ABOUT THE BLACKHAWKS: Speaking of Keith, the two-time Norris Trophy recipient continued to shoulder the load by setting up another goal in Game 3 while logging 31:37 of ice time. Keith's assist total trails only Edmonton's Paul Coffey (25, 1985), Calgary's Al MacInnis (24, 1989), New York Rangers' Brian Leetch (23, 1994) and Boston's Bobby Orr (19, 1972) among defensemen in one playoff year. Superstar Patrick Kane and captain Jonathan Toews are singing much different tunes after excelling in the first three rounds, with the former being held off the scoresheet in all three games of the Stanley Cup final while the latter has just one assist.

TRENDS:

*Lightning are 4-0 in their last 4 road games.
*Blackhawks are 6-1 in their last 7 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game.
*Under is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings in Chicago.
*Under is 5-1 in Lightning last 6 road games

COVERS CONSENSUS: According to Covers Consensus, 76 percent of the action is on the Hawks.

Blackhawks thrive when down 2-1 in playoff series
By STEPHEN CAMPBELL

We've seen enough from the Chicago Blackhawks in the Jonathan Toews/Patrick Kane era to know that they can never be counted out, but just how good they are at coming back when trailing in the postseason may surprise you.

The Hawks have rallied from a 2-1 series deficit to emerge triumphant in four out of their last five playoff series. Joel Quenneville's squad find themselves down 2-1 to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Stanley Cup Final but will have an opportunity to even things up at the United Center on Wednesday.

In the wake of Game 3's loss, Sports Interaction has tabbed the Hawks as +135 underdogs to hoist Lord Stanley's holy grail.

See spot. See spot bet: This week's best spot bet opportunities
By BEN BURNS

Spot bets are classic handicapping practices that have proven profitable no matter what sport you're betting. Whether it's a team looking past this week's opponent, one coming off a hard-fought victory, or a rough patch of schedule, bettors can find value picking their spots. Covers Expert Ben Burns points out his favorites:

Lookahead spot

The San Diego Chargers always seem to find their way into the playoff mix late in the season, and if that holds true in 2015 football bettors could be treated to a tasty lookahead spot in Week 12 of the NFL season.

The Chargers have a potentially-huge matchup versus the Denver Broncos at home in Week 13 but sandwiched between that game and an equally-important stand against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 11 is a trip to Jacksonville in Week 12.

Not only could the Bolts get caught looking ahead to the big game with the Broncos but travel across the country for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff – which is 10 a.m. back in San Diego. Early odds have the Chargers as 4.5-point road favorites versus the Jags in Week 12.

Schedule spot

The defending World Series champs are currently on the East Coast, taking two of three versus the Phillies this past weekend and kicking off a three-game set with the New York Mets Tuesday in Flushing. The Giants face a tough challenge come Thursday when they toss out the first pitch for Game 3 in New York at 7:10 p.m. ET.

San Francisco then must hightail it back to the Bay Area for a 10:15 p.m. ET series opener with the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday. Usually, the MLB schedule makers will set an early game time for team’s making the cross-country hike to play the next day, giving them the evening to travel. However, the Giants will be on little down time for Game 1 versus the D-backs.

Letdown spot

The Colorado Rockies are currently hosting the MLB-leading St. Louis Cardinals in a three-game series, opening that set with an impressive 11-3 win at Coors Field Monday. The Rockies have traded wins and losses over their last nine and are trying to climb out of the National League West basement with a dominant showing against the Cards.

Following that intense matchup with the best team in baseball, Colorado heads to the coast – no, the other way – for a four-game road series against the Miami Marlins. The Rockies, who lost two of three at home to Miami this weekend, could come out flat after facing St. Louis and getting zero down time between that series and traveling to South Beach for Thursday’s opener with the Fish.

MLB notebook: Cardinals place LF Holliday on DL
By THE SPORTS XCHANGE

The St. Louis Cardinals placed left fielder Matt Holliday on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.

Holliday, 35, suffered a strained right quadriceps Monday in the Cardinals' 11-3 loss to the Colorado Rockies.

Holliday was hitting .303 and ranked fourth in the National League with a .417 on-base percentage.

To fill his spot on the roster, the Cardinals recalled right-hander Miguel Socolovich from Triple-A Memphis.

---Justin Verlander will make his 2015 debut for the Detroit Tigers on Saturday, manager Brad Ausmus said Tuesday.

The right-hander will start against the Cleveland Indians in Detroit.

Verlander, 32, has been on the disabled list since Opening Day due to a strained right triceps.

---The Tampa Bay Rays put right-hander Jake Odorizzi on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain.

Odorizzi (4-5, 2.47 ERA) felt tightness in that side during his start Friday night in Seattle and left the game in the fifth inning.

Meanwhile, center fielder Desmond Jennings will have arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Wednesday and will remain out indefinitely. He has not played since late April.

---Veteran right-handed reliever Rafael Soriano agreed to a minor-league contract with the Chicago Cubs.

The 35-year-old with 207 saves expected a more competitive market for his services.

Soriano could emerge in a Chicago bullpen that went to a committee approach recently. He played for manager Joe Maddon in Tampa in 2010, and also was closer for the New York Yankees and Washington Nationals.

Tigers' Verlander will make season debut Saturday
By THE SPORTS XCHANGE

Justin Verlander will make his 2015 debut for the Detroit Tigers on Saturday, manager Brad Ausmus said Tuesday.

The right-hander will start against the Cleveland Indians in Detroit.

Verlander, 32, has been on the disabled list since Opening Day due to a strained right triceps.

He had a strong outing at Triple-A Toledo on Saturday, striking out nine and allowing one unearned run on five hits in a 5 2/3-inning rehab start.

A 2006 American League Rookie of the Year and 2011 AL MVP and Cy Young Award winner, Verlander was 15-12 with a 3.74 ERA in 32 starts last year. He has recorded double-digit victory totals in every season since 2006 and has made at least 30 starts in that span.

Rays put RHP Odorizzi on DL
By THE SPORTS XCHANGE

The Tampa Bay Rays put right-hander Jake Odorizzi on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a left oblique strain.

Odorizzi (4-5, 2.47 ERA) felt tightness in that side during his start Friday night in Seattle and left the game in the fifth inning.

Odorizzi is the third starting pitcher to hit the DL for the Rays. Alex Cobb is out for the season due to Tommy John surgery, and Matt Moore is working his way back from elbow surgery performed in 2014.

As the Rays played the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday, third baseman Evan Longoria remained out for the third straight game with a sore left wrist.

Meanwhile, center fielder Desmond Jennings will have arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Wednesday and will remain out indefinitely. He has not played since late April.

Cubs sign RHP Soriano
By THE SPORTS XCHANGE

Veteran right-handed reliever Rafael Soriano agreed to a minor-league contract with the Chicago Cubs.

The 35-year-old with 207 career saves expected a more competitive market for his services.

Soriano could emerge in a Chicago bullpen that went to a committee approach recently. He played for manager Joe Maddon in Tampa in 2010, and also was closer for the New York Yankees and Washington Nationals.

Hector Rondon began the season as closer but Maddon involved Jason Motte and others lately.

# 2 MARVELOUS CHIP 5/1

# 5 INFORMED DECISION 12/1

We've got a vibe SAMMY SAMMY SAMMY is going to get the triumph. Can't overlook based on speed figs which have been amazing (71 avg) these days. The 73 average class figure may give this gelding a distinct advantage in the group of animals. One of the most competitive win statistics with this driver-trainer make this gelding dangerous. MARVELOUS CHIP - Talk about a dynamic duo, Wollam and Manke have some of the best driver-conditioner numbers at the track. Hands down the best position at Northfield Park is the 2. The win clip is tremendous. INFORMED DECISION - Hard to put finger on it, but think about him in this contest.

# 2 FASHION MYSTERY 4/1

# 3 DO YOUR JOB 9/2

# 9 COCOA BEACH 12/1

FASHION MYSTERY looks very nice to best this pack. She's going to post in good form, recording very strong speed figures. An excellent selection. She has really strong class rankings, averaging 88. Could be considered for a bet here. Napolitano and Garcia-Herrera have a great working relationship. Great results from their contests. DO YOUR JOB - These days Bartlett has been winning with a flourish, which may give the edge to this mare in this event. Should be in the hunt again in this race, looking to add to that already high lifetime winning percentage. COCOA BEACH - Comes into this affair with respectable TrackMaster class ratings as compared to the group - take a good look. Well above average winning percent makes this entrant an excellent pick to take home the dough.

# 5 JOKERS APPEAL 2/1

# 4 POSSE POWER 3/1

# 2 LOTA TALENT 7/2

I have to consider JOKERS APPEAL here. Risk takers should feel comfortable with this choice given Torres's recent profits at the window. Will likely be one of the leaders of the bunch going into the halfway point of the contest. Could beat this field given the 82 Equibase Speed Figure earned in his last outing. POSSE POWER - The average class rating of 79 makes this one tough to beat. He has been running quite well and the Equibase Speed Figs are among the strongest in this group of animals. LOTA TALENT - This gelding is coming back almost immediately to race. This gelding has to be given consideration just off the earnings per start in dirt sprint events alone.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES

The Walker Group Picks

# 1 OXIDADA 7/2

# 5 TRES HERMANAS 12/1

# 3 HOLIDAY STROLL 3/1

OXIDADA is my choice. This horse is at the top in this group in earnings per start at the distance/surface. Garnered a formidable speed rating last time out. Has performed soundly recently in route races, posting a nifty 83 avg Equibase speed fig. TRES HERMANAS - This filly has some longshot angles I like to wager on. Her 81 average has this filly with among the top speed figures in this race. HOLIDAY STROLL - The average class fig alone makes this one a solid choice. Jockey's recent return on investment figs make this filly a good wager.
