Weber St vs Miami Ohio -12 (1)

Weber St (16-14) last year and 10-3 in the Big Sky Conference. Problem is coach returns only 4 letter winners and two starters for that team. Who's knows for sure how good the newcomers will be. They have some transfers along with some frosh battling for open spots and playing time.

Miami Ohio is a team I'm a little more familiar with due to territory. I have to admit I haven't seen Weber St play in about 4 or 5 years. You just don't see teams like that in this area very often. I do know Miami is a very veteran team returning 11 players with experience and 7 of them started games last year. Bramos averaged 16.3 last year. He played some ball in Greece (10) games to be exact and averaged 25 ppg. Anyway, very experienced team who played a much tougher schedule than their opponent. I didn't recognize to many top tier teams on the Weber schedule last year. Meanwhile Miami played teams like Xavier (59-57 W), USC (57-53 L), Miss ST (67-60 W), Louisville (47-40 L), Illinois (61-58 W OT), Kansas (78-54 L), so you see that is impressive in my book. Miami played out in Cal last year to start the season and held there own.

The only thing stopping me from making this a 2 unit play is the slow down patient offense Miami Ohio has played in the past. Just to dam disciplined to expect them to win games by really larger spreads. they have the type of team that can keep games close. So only going to bet 1 unit on them just in case they try to rest players for most likely UCLA the next night.

Miami rpi 73 and sos 54 9 (last year)
Weber rpi 193 and sos 276 (last year)

Good luck my friends,

I do know Miami was horrible in the favorite roll last year and lost Politz brothers who were big body glass cleaners. Also leaning to PVAM as Ben Howland is a gentleman unlike the scumbag coach at Duke.

I have been looking forward to this game for some time now. I think that despite the loss of Tim Pollitz, Miami will be a better team this year. Reports out of Oxford have been glowing. Redshirt Ballard has elevated his game and the Redhawks have plenty returning.

All that said, I just can't play Miami as a double digit favorite in this spot. I expected a lower number. Rail is correct in that over the years Miami has been a much better play in the role of the dog or short favorite.

I'll wait for a better spot, but do hope that they get it done for you.

Also wanted to add that Eric Pollitz is back. He was redshirted, but he's not nearly as good as Tim was.

Yeah, wasn't expecting the big line this early in the year. Hard to expect Miami to cover 12 against anyone. I could really see a back-door cover by Weber in this one.

Rail: One of them is still playing, of course who knows what to expect. Lot of points for UCLA to cover but that D of theirs is always tough.

RM: Thanks for the info, I did know that though, I just don't know what he can do on the court since he sat out last year.

JM: That backdoor cover is always my fear when I have the fav, but then you have the same opportunity taking the other side on any game. FT's at the end that break you or make you, no matter what side your on.

Redskins were better last year, no question about it, Politz was a great post presence and that is not their now. IT is all about Bramos now and he takes some bad shots, their offense was much more fluid last year, and they were better on defense too.

He didnt have his starters in with 6 min left and isnt trying to reach 100 like ratface is. They were doing it with defense. not shooting 3's up 40 with 2 mins left.

Give it time my friend, one game does not a season make. I will give you one thing, pound for pound and inch for inch,Tim P was as hardnosed and tough as anybody that played the game.
