but rarely about our lucky wins.

I had such a win yesterday in the CALG @ EDM game yesterday for my 2nd half wager.

I wagered on EDM who were -1.5 points for the 2nd half. And won the 2nd half 20-18

<TABLE class=boxScore><TBODY><TR><TH class=" alignLeft">FINAL</TH><TH>1</TH><TH>2</TH><TH>3</TH><TH>4</TH><TH>T</TH></TR><TR class=" bg2"><TD class=" alignLeft">Calgary</TD><TD>3</TD><TD>14</TD><TD>3</TD><TD>15</TD><TD>35</TD></TR><TR class=" bg1"><TD class=" alignLeft">Edmonton</TD><TD>7</TD><TD>7</TD><TD>20</TD><TD>0</TD><TD>34</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

Edmonton was completely dominated in almost every aspect of the second half, but somehow still managed to cover the point spread. I think ricky Ray was 1-9 in passing at one point.

Edmonton tied the game up early in the third as a Kelly Malveaux interception led to a Noel Prefontaine field goal.

The Eskimos kept coming midway through the quarter as Tristan Jackson broke several tackles for a 63-yard punt return to the Calgary 31, leading to another Prefontaine field goal and a 10-point advantage.

The Eskimos caught a massive break on the final play of the third quarter as Ryan bobbled yet another punt and the ball bounced off a helmet and into the waiting arms of Kai Ellis who sprinted 40 yards for the special teams touchdown and a 34-20 Edmonton lead.

I won this play completely on the back of special teams and sheer dumb luck. On the flip side, anyone who wagered on CALG 2nd half had a very very very bad beat.

I think its human nature to forget the "lucky wins" and remember the "bad beats" but IMO over thousands of wagers, they most likely even out.

I won a bet on the Ed Hochuli bad call. I would have lost the bet had he made the right call.

agree, they even out, I had the same Edmonton bet, but no idea it was a lucky win.

I was fortunate to win a parlay today.

Balt and over 9.5, needed 2 runs in B9, to get there, got it. Looked great at 6-1 in the 2nd inning, then all zeroes.

i think we often take these lucky wins for granted, but become bitter of the unlucky losses.

I recall several years ago having the under in an MLB game in Colorado. The score was well over, it was the bottom of the ninth, two outs, two strikes on the batter - and it started to rain. An hour or so later they called it, giving me a push.

I had U Wash - 20 and 2 nd half - 7 1/2 today. I lost both wagers when
mighty Idaho scores with 13 seconds on the clock. Wash wins by 19 of course and wins second half by 7 !^<<^

One night last month went to sleep certain I had a lousy day. Wake up the next morning to find the Yankees won 4-2. To cover the -1.5. In extra innings. At home

You can be pissed off when it goes against you, enjoy it when it cashes for you, but to have any success you have to understand it's going to go both ways and keep your head on

No sure what the definition of a bad beat truly is but I am willing to say I am involved in a bad win/beat 10 times a week easily.

I also had the Washington loss today Kermit. I feel your pain.

Word to the wise: You better not let bad beats bother you or you have no shot at doing this successfully. We all go through the same pct of bets that tunr into bad beats over time, no one is immune to it, NO ONE. It's how you handle them that seperates the winners from the losers in all this.

It feels like ages ago with that Yankees win, 4-2.... wait, you said extra innings? Never mind. I was thinking of the one only few days ago.. on Wednesday the 9th. They were down 2-0, and I had both the ML and RL on them. They get 4 runs in bottom of 8th at home for an unexpected double win.

Right. Exactly.

In a way, with all those bad beats and all those lucky wins we get through many many bets, I end up looking at money management and percentages (true value of a bet) as probably the most important aspect of investing your money in sports.

I have been feeling like there is almost "no benefit" to handicap sports because no matter what, there have been "locks" that completely crashes as well as unbelievable underdogs that find ways to win on the ML. So I have been making wagers based solely on what our friends on this website have posted without me doing any own digging and just making those bets as part of season-long series.

I'm starting to bet 10-20 picks per day these days with very small bets. Almost copying Iceman's strategy with "volume, volume, volume"... instead of percentages, I'm more of doing my money management system to pick up a number of units every week.

Luckiest win I have ever had, was on Utah State at Fresno State in CBB this year.

I had Utah State -5.5. It was a back and forth game all night. Utah State goes up 3 with a second to go. I'm pissed.

Fresno hits a full court shot. They go into OT, and lose by 6.

The bad beats by a WIDE MARGIN outnumber the lucky wins.

All I need to say is "thank you Green Bay" for the 2pt conversion. Turned a losing day into a winning day!

I had Texas at Oak, U9. They combined to score 25 runs (texas winning 17-8), Bottom 9th halted due to rain and I get a push.
