After that, the top 2 Pool A and B teams go at it. Same for the top 2 from Pool B and C.

For the finals, the winners of each pool play the runner's up from the other pool.

Quick note for Venezuela... Johan Santana is out of the WBC per the Mets request.

USA and Dominican have to be the big favorites but I think Mexico could do some damage.

Solid mix of starters and relievers who are proven at the MLB level. Got some sluggers and some up-and-coming hitters. I think they are as good as the Japanese personally.

Mexico +200 to win Pool B is definitely my favorite bet here.

Virtually all of the above rosters are only provisional and I have yet to find concrete rosters.

As someone mentioned, Santana is out for Venezuela

Jeff Francis, Eric Gagne and Rich Harden all not available for Canada and Carlos Quentin is out for the USA are just the ones I know off the top of my head...

Good info. Hadn't heard about the Team Canada losses.

-500 to win the pool and +1000 to win the entire tournament means Cuba has to be the smart play. All they have to do is win the pool, then bet against them. It's almost like taking a -500 favorite at even money

It's too bad a lot of players won't take this seriously. I know from a Canadian perspective we have a lot of big bats but no real pitching. Rich Harden, Jeff Francis, Eric Bedard, Ryan Dempster all no shows. Outside of Scott Richmond who pitched for the Jays a bit last year, I don't think there are any starters that pitched in MLB.

So what you're saying is put, lets say, $100 on Cuba to win the whole thing which will pay out $1000, then start betting against them at $25 per game after they win their pool?

My online name may say "Professor" but, don't tell anyone, its a lie...:ohno:

Thanks in advance!

Yes, though you could also bet against them before pool play end if they are heavy favorites, or wait until the very end, hoping they make it that far
