Washington Post: Republican takeover of Senate appears more and more assured

Probably because of racism or something:

The decision by Sen. John Walsh (D-Mont.) not to seek election in November in the wake of a plagiarism scandal is the latest piece of good news for Republicans as they strive to take control of the Senate in less than three months.

Walsh’s departure from the race came in the same week that two Republican senators — Pat Roberts in Kansas and Lamar Alexander in Tennessee — defeated tea party challengers in primary fights, ensuring that every GOP senator seeking reelection would be the party’s nominee.

These past seven days typified the fates of the two parties this election cycle. Democrats have been hit by retirements in tough states — Montana, West Virginia, South Dakota and, to a lesser extent, Iowa — and Republicans haven’t nominated the sort of extreme candidates who lack broader appeal in a general election.

[h=1]Black Vote Seen as Last Hope for Democrats to Hold Senate[/h]
WASHINGTON — The confidential memo from a former pollster for President Obama contained a blunt warning for Democrats. Written this month with an eye toward Election Day, it predicted “crushing Democratic losses across the country” if the party did not do more to get black voters to the polls.
“African-American surge voters came out in force in 2008 and 2012, but they are not well positioned to do so again in 2014,” Cornell Belcher, the pollster, wrote in the memo, dated Oct. 1. “In fact, over half aren’t even sure when the midterm elections are taking place.”

Lot of degen states being taken over by Repubs. Sad to see. Prepare for years of mediocre economic growth and high unemployment for a looooong time. Sucks for the next generation to be screwed by these uneducated conservative states.

[h=1]Republicans chances of winning the Senate keep getting better[/h]
The likelihood of a Republican Senate takeover continues to increase with all three major election models giving the GOP at least a six in ten probability of winning the six seats the party needs to win take back control.

Latinos, angry with Obama, may sit out midterm vote, hurting Democrats

As Democrats struggle to hold the Senate, limit their losses in the House and maybe gain a few governor seats Nov. 4, they are counting on strong support from Latino voters, a rapidly growing part of the electorate and a big reason states like California, Nevada and Colorado have gone from red to blue in their presidential preferences.

While I applaud the probable take over of the Senate, it won’t mean jack shit unless they collectively grow a set.

And quite frankly I’m skeptical.

This clueless idiot weighs in

The head of the Democrats' campaign arm is insisting this week that President Obama is campaigning for threatened Senate Democrats in purple districts.

But Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), who heads the Democratic National Committee (DNC), couldn't come up with even one example to back her claim.

In an interview with Bloomberg's "All Due Respect" program, the Florida Democrat was asked why former President Clinton is on the stump for Senate Democrats in competitive contests but President Obama is not.

"The president is campaigning in competitive races," Wasserman Schultz responded.

But pressed to name an example, she deflected the question.

Dave,
we've been down this road before. The R's talk a big game but when push comes to shove, we get a bunch of mealy mouthed BS and concessions to Obozo.

Ya a bunch of hatchet wounds. Afraid to shut down the Government to rein in Obama knowing full well it would have little affect on the day to day life of the average citizen.

The House in particular pisses me off. They have the power of the purse yet they always capitulate. They hold hearings ad nauseam on the IRS, Fast and Furious, Benghazi et al with absolutely nothing to show for it.

So yes having control of both Houses sounds great but like I said I remain skeptical that anything will be done to improve the country.

Republicans enter the final week of the midterm campaign holding higher ground than the Democrats, aided by public dissatisfaction with President Obama’s leadership, with the overall direction of the country and with the federal government’s ability to deal with major problems, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Driving attitudes is a pervasive sense of a country in trouble. Overwhelming majorities say the country is badly off-track and give the economy negative ratings. Economic expectations are little better today than they were at this time four years ago.

Six in 10 say they cannot trust the government in Washington to do what is right — the same as a year ago in the aftermath of the government shutdown and the botched rollout of the federal Web site for the Affordable Care Act.

With multiple crises confronting the country — including the spread of Ebola in West Africa and cases here at home, as well as threats from Islamic State militants — a majority now says the government’s ability to deal with big problems has declined in the past few years. Among those who say this, more — by 3 to 1 — blame Obama and the Democrats rather than Republicans in Congress.

All the wails of racism are going to be funny to watch.

[h=1]Obama Hits Career Lows in Favorability, Empathy[/h]
Favorable views of Barack Obama and the sense that he understands the problems of average Americans both have dropped to career lows in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll, two more unwelcome results for the president’s party near the eve of the midterm elections.

History repeating itself. Funny how the idiot dems in here piled on when it was happening to Bush, now it's their own boy and they still sing nothing but praise for this ass clown.

And high unemployment you ask Akphi? The last 6 years has been a complete disgrace.

The media wing of the Democratic party is already prepping the low information voters for a drubbing tomorrow by saying it is all "anti-incumbent" as if this has nothing to do with the failed policies put in place since January 2009.

Hilarious.
