There were many plays that could have been called there, some better than others. The one play that simply cannot be called against a defense bunched right up at the middle of the line of scrimmage with only 4 seconds on the clock is a plunge directly into them. With a guy who isn't really even a running back.

But that's why they're the 49ers. And Mike Singletary will keep that "interim" tag on his title.

Very true. It is amazing and disgusting how many coahces panic and have NO idea how to manage the clock.
