Let me put it this way.
Conservatives believe in God. Liberals believe in Santa Claus.

Please!!!!

This only issue Jesus would agree upon with a conservative is being pro-life.

He would be against, capital punishment, wars, and steal from the poor - give to the rich republican economics.

Come on Pat don't dis Jesus suggesting he would be a conservative that's going way to far and insulting.

I heard he might have been the head of a secret army or something, so I would guess conservative.

FF,

Jesus in very simples terms (I apologize that I don't have time now to go into detail), pacifist, non-materialistic, humanitarian. It is obvious from his teachings that he would have been against capital punishment, against our penal system that currently favors a strong hand over rehabilitation, against guns being used for anything except hunting for food, and here's the real kick in the ass for all the God fearing conservs more than likely he would have been a socialist because both gluttony and neglecting the poor can be considered sins.

But Conservatives are neither guilty of gluttony nor neglecting the poor.
We take care of both the weak, the poor and the ignorant when the case is proven.
What we don't do is take care of those who are encouraged to sit on their fat welfare-state-cared-for-arses.
It's certain that "Jesus" had different parameters to work with in times when the days of the idealistic-nice-but-dim-though-awfully-well-meaning were still in the far distance. His intentions were good, without doubt, and as an historical figure absolutely one to hold up as one's role model. However, Jesus would have been disappointed, yet sympathetic, to see our cynicism for the modern day "Lazarus" who lays down on his bed only as long as the 6-pack lasts and "arises" only when the welfare cheque arrives.

Don't misunderstand "Jesus's" role in our 21st century. He still has a role to play but we need to update him a little, don't you think?

Peter

the reason we got to where we are is because we (both lazy and rich) did not follow his word.

I believe sincerely that the human being's most basic instinct is to care for his loved ones and when he's done that, it's to care for his fellows.

We may pass along the other side but the most of us will turn back and help.

I am not a christian, but the fact reamins that Jesus could have been niether. This is a reflection on how bi-partisan politics has ruined our government. What about those who are niether conservative or liberal. There are not just two ways to think.

chonce -

You hit the nail on the head. There can't just be two SEPARATE ways. It's NOT that cut and dry.

codeworks - Religion is a great thing and a great subject to discuss if all parties are serious, but to start these two threads on Jesus and try to discuss if he is liberal/conservitive/socialist/capitalist has no one sided answer and do do it in a political forum where everybody is HYPED-UP on political agruements is turning this new forum into a SHIT HOLE

Just like most places if you use the word Jesus once in a sentence you become a conservative. Say it twice in a paragraph you become a right wing conservative. And if you dare say the word Jesus three times in one day you are now a radical right wing conservative.

See, Patriot has it right - the liberal grew up believing in santa claus, the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny and it was not until late in life when the realized they were not real. So they throw Jesus into that category as they don't want to be let down once again.
