Alaska is having a record cold year with record snowfalls. But who can dispute global warming, it's undeniable, right DEAC?

wow people really 1 days is 10 out then next 40 just because the snowfall/rain happens when its 30-40 doesn't mean the world is ending in the north and east.

The seasons have changed little from what i was used to as a little boy but doesn't everything else i remember when gas was 1.50 a gallon 5 years ago should i go blow my head now its 4.

Talk to the people in eastern Europe and see if they think it was a warm winter. LOL

Its definitely been the warmest February I can ever remember...

When I agree with your posts, there's a handful of skeptics who insist I'm not serious

But seriously...Here in central Florida as a residential gardener I am obviously very tuned into the weather patterns. And this February has been almost precisely what I normally see in the month of March. That is, warmer patterns are a full four to five weeks ahead of "schedule", compared to at least the past 14 years.

ALSportsJunkie I don't know where you are from but I can't see a constellation anywhere. They were visible to the naked eye in the 80's

FUNK, you just need to get all your neighbors within a two square mile radius to shut off their lights for a few minutes and the sky will light up like Xmas

Just because you cannot see them does not mean that they are not there.

Excellent point, CS

Though I am also unable to see them, I hear them....constantly. Their voices speak to me and keep me awake most nights until at least 3, 4am

Total fun to read the nutzo deniers (they deny global warming based on the bible, or their clear short term business interest " I don't really care about any future or the health of my grandchildren, I just want my profits to continue for another few years,") But the real reason for irrational reasoning of RX scientist deniers is that it is a political campaign. Look at the list of deniers in this thread. It is the same list that would show up for any anti-abortion thread, or any anti-gov't campaign. Only a few of these nutty political wack deniers ever write anything worth reading. If you are not a brain dead old school 'mad at the world' bible thumper who confuses dogs with ideas while shouting 'get off my lawn' then you should join the rest of the world's intelligent scientists in being extremely concerned about the immediate climate changes which might lower the odds of you and your families survival.

Of course the climate is changing - it changes every day as it has since well...I guess the beginning of the Earth? Is our pollution making it worse? I don't know - it certainly makes it harder to breath (at least for me) - but I am pretty certain we are not on the way to some unavoidable catastrophe. How long have we been taking accurate readings of temperature and the like? A couple hundred years or so? How long has the Earth been here? Sooo basically we are looking at about a .000000000000001% sample of the entire history of the Earth's weather patterns. In other words - we ain't got a fuckin clue what is coming in the next 100 years. It is fun to bitch about it being hot/cold etc. but until we get a reasonable pool of data to look at I don't see how we can draw conclusions about anything regarding the climate in the long run.

Great post AL, on the note of "accurate" readings ask yourself how accurate those tempurature readings were back in 1875, 1902....and how were those records kept/taken? Were they taken at the same time of day? The same location? How accurate was the equipment in 1865? A thermometor back then could have been off + or - 3 to 6 degrees...or more!

Climate change and global warming are among my biggest pet peeves. Those who believe in the theory beat their chest like they are going to save the world. They think the 310 million people here being regulated to death is going to make an impact on the "global" atmosphere....while the 1.4 BILLION people in China and the 1.1 BILLION people in India don't give a fuck and are doing whatever they like without the bullshit regulations we have here in the USA.

And people want to know why gas cost so much here in the states.....

it doesnt take a supercomputer to design pretty accurate thermometers, scientists want accurate readings so they normally "figure this things out" you know, I would drop the accuracy of the thermometers from this discussion, the accuracy of the instruments would be the least of my concerns (unless people try to simply say "its an old instrument it has to be inaccurate" that is flat out WRONG)

Example out of wikipedia,

"According to British Standards, correctly calibrated, used and maintained liquid-in-glass thermometers can achieve a measurement uncertainty of ±0.01 °C in the range 0 to 100 °C, and a larger uncertainty outside this range: ±0.05 °C up to 200 or down to −40 °C, ±0.2 °C up to 450 or down to −80 °"

Lately the trend I see on this discussion is to acknowledge global warming but deny that its man made or say that its hard to say

Richard Muller, an US physicist recently reversed his position on global warming (from no to yes)

take a few curses in fluid mechanics as to pressure/temperature /condensation etc .........OR read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemtrail_conspiracy_theory (Take a look at the picture of the planes a340 versus an old boeing 707)

Experts on atmospheric phenomena deny the existence of chemtrails, asserting that the characteristics attributed to them are simply features of contrails responding differently in diverse conditions in terms of the sunlight, temperature, horizontal and vertical wind shear, and humidity levels present at the aircraft's altitude.[1][3][4][8][18] Experts explain that what appears as patterns such as grids formed by contrails result from increased air traffic traveling through the gridlike United States National Airspace System's north-south and east-west oriented flight lanes, and that it is difficult for observers to judge the differences in altitudes between these contrails from the ground.[4] The jointly published fact sheet produced by NASA, the EPA, the FAA, and NOAA in 2000 in response to alarms over chemtrails details the science of contrail formation, and outlines both the known and potential impacts contrails have on temperature and climate.[12] The USAF produced a fact sheet as well that described these contrail phenomena as observed and analyzed since at least 1953. It also rebutted chemtrail theories more directly by identifying the theories as a hoax and denying the existence of chemtrails

There is no agenda with global warming, it's just truth from scientists, and fact. Those that deny it have an agenda. LMAO.

Since we here have so much in common I consider us all friends even though we dont always agree. So I mean no offense when I say that those who don't believe global warming exists are living in a closet and only see their same daily routine around them...
