Want to call in sick without actually talking to the boss? MobileSphere just launched a free voice messaging service called Slydial that connects you directly to someone's voicemail so you can actually leave a message when you're pressed for time or want to avoid any awkward conversations.

Slydial is a free service that doesn't require an account unless you want extra features like Click 2 Slydial, which allows you to initiate a call from your computer. To get started, you simply dial 267-Slydial (267-759-3425) from any landline or mobile phone number, enter the cell phone number of the person you want to call, and wait for the service to connect you to their voicemail. Pretty sly, huh?

I tried the service and had no problems going staight to voicemail as advertised. You do have to endure a rather long advertisement, but if you plan to do this often, I recommend you sign up for the ad-free service which sets you back $.15 per call and includes some rather interesting features.

Not sure how you could use Slydial? Check out these Slydial situations for a little inspiration.

I thought our cell phones up here in canada had the option built in, i had never tried it, but I could have sworn I could send a message to a cell phone voicemailbox without having the phone ring.

Yeah.. or you can go to your voicemail box on your regular cell and send a voicemail to someone without using this.

Isn't this what e-mail is for?

I imagine in the future it will be a snap to just do a voice e-mail and then to listen to your voice e-mail.

This is a cool thing. I actually can and do this sometimes without slydial. I just call the number from one phone and then immiediatly call it from another and most of the time you get shot straight to voicemail on the second call.

I can't stand to talk on the phone. Its such a time waster.

LOL explains what? I know ur ass can relate. My problem is when i get on the phone I'll sit there and needlessly bullshit with the person 4 ever, when all that was really needed to be said was like one sentence.

yo this thing is bogus. i used it once without actually testing it myself thinking (for some reason) that buster saying it works means it works. said it was brilliant last night thinking it worked on a chick but she told me this morning she saw my missed call. so i just test ran it over a few numbers and:

a) the phone you are calling actually rings once or twice, so the person could quickly answer the call
b) all this thing leads to is a quick call back from the person who thinks they just missed your call but will go ahead and call you back asap anyway unless they truly are busy at the time. no big innovation here

I've used it 40+ times since Buster posted this.....Once & only once did my number show up as a missed call that led to a quick callback.

I test it randomly from a land-line to my own cell every few times I actually need to use it legit just to be safe. Always works.

It may just be that the software was buggy and let the original number slip few every now & again back in July.
