Has I said 4+ years ago on this forum, if this guy pitches another 10+ years, he would have at least a snowballs chance in hell at the HOF...........this from having no chance.

Great career for Wake...........

He's 27 wins away from being the Red Sox all time leader.

He's also 14 starts away from being the Red Sox leader in games started.

Wow. I didnt know that. Pretty cool.

I know our big time resident Wakefield fan, Fishhead will be happy if he gets those milestones.

Wake absolute total class act.....been my favorite Sox player for some time. I've said it before--here and in other places--he was the true hero of the '04 ALCS vs. the MFY. He unselfishly went out there to chew up innings in the Game 3 blowout and, had he not done that, the Sox pitching situation would have been a soup sandwich in games 4-7. Guy comes to work every day, keeps his mouth shut, and does whatever is asked (starter, closer, middle relief, short relief, stay off the playoff roster and make room for another bat).

This is a guy who should be a role model.

Twenty seven wins away from Sox all-time leader? I have to think that the current all-time Sox victory leader is a guy named Cy Young, but I'm not sure.

You are spot on son............

By the way, for the record..............

Two of the greatest pitchers in baseball history are tied for the Red Sox franchise lead in wins all-time with 192, Roger Clemens and Cy Young. Clemens pitched for the Sox from 1986 to 1996 and posted a 192-111 record with a 3.06 ERA and 2590 strikeouts. Young pitched for the franchise from 1901-1908, winning 192 games against 112 losses with a 2.00 ERA and 1341 Ks. While Clemens' 1986 season earned him the, um, Cy Young Award, as he went 24-4 with a 2.48 ERA and 238 strikeouts, that pales in comparison to Young's first season in Boston, when he went 33-10 with a 1.62 ERA and 158 strikeouts.

He is a personal friend of one of my clients. We always catch up on how he is doing. He never had a bad thing to say about Wake.
