Wake Forest best play?

Put simply, no.

I don't care that Wake beat FSU 30-0 at night, in Doak, two years ago. Betting against the 'Noles at home and at night, with Jimbo now running the ship, is never the best available play.

I wouldn't say best play, but I will say getting the better team + points is never a bad play.

I think this will be a close game though so I'm not touching it. I could see FSU winning by 10-13, but I could also see WF winning by 10-13.

Not sure FSU will embarrass Wake but I do think FSU wins this game. Lay the points

Wake is the play IMO. FSU has played 2 high-school level teams and their youth showed brightly even though they dominated both games. Wake didn't look sharp against Ole-Miss but I expect them to have it all together come Saturday. Ponder has been talking his ass off and I think Wake's D will shut him up quickly.

wake is a solid play

wake has a great coach
fsu has no coach
wake is disciplined
fsu never has been
wake has a great kicker
fsu doesnt have one

a few small things like this add up and favor a team that just looks to hold control, eat some clock and not panic

wake will be in the ball game till the end

offensive

i look for wake to chip away with the run, they have been slow with the run so far but i look for them to be patient and attack the A gap, not typical wake style but i think they make some plays on 2nd & 3rd medium yardage. gutsy calls to attack the A gap on 3rd and 7 or so but wake will be patient with it

wake loves to motion and use misdirection plays, and as always fsu is not disciplined in this category, great athletes who lose contain and assignment. wake knows this and they will exploit it 12-15 plays

i also look to see wake roll skinner out, wake brings back side routes all the time when they flood the strong side. fsu will over commit and skinner will throw back to the middle. again fsu lacks contain in these type situations

i think wake will have some problems on the o-line with the power of fsu linemen but if they keep the plays north and south and be patient on the ground and use 3-5 step drops they should hold up

defense

fsu will struggle at qb in my opinion, wake will use overloading blitz pacages forcing quick throws, i dont think the young qb's fair well with this. fsu has great talent at wr but they gotta get the ball

i expect to see wake run some rolling zone coverages, this is very difficult to read, i think fsu looks for wake to roll the cb's into man but wake has great opportunity to shade man coverage and release into a zone. wake should get 2 ints off fsu and i think one goes house

wake will look to commit early with the front 7, they cant allow plays to break down and fsu use the speed to make plays, they have the talent to create pressure up front but they need to be set in the 4-3 2 technique. which doesnt read plays but sends the downlinemen up field quick. fsu will typically have 3-4 base running plays and they love the screnn and flare so this shouldnt hurt them

i have a good feeling wake causes pressure on the qb forcing bad throws and will blow up a few running plays

penaltys-fsu is good for 4-5 holding calls and they will get one on a screen play that goes for yardage, again fsu is famous for this crap

i think wake wins 23-17

good luck fellas

line is telling you something here. fsu blew out two cupcakes schools yet they are still the favorite? after wake opened the year in the top 25, and have won both their games? sure they needed some heroics last week late, but i dont see how this line is FSU laying points, even though they are home at night? just seems odd to me.

that being said, i can see either school winning, and i really think both will struggle to score points in this game. we arent going to see these teams light up the scoreboard like they have the past few weeks.

years ago fsu would be huge DD favs...last couple years the lines have gotten smaller and smaller and wake has gotten better and better and fsu weaker and weaker...they beat them like someone said 30-0 couple years ago...this matchup has almost gotten to the point now where WAKE is square side (similar to when FSU was when they were dominating).....im almost tempted to throw everything out and take FSU bc i can just see the whole world being on wake...

not sure if this makes any sense or not but just how i see it

go back to the 30-0 drubbing.
look at the record and 'form' (at that time) of each team heading into that matchup.
look at the line vegas hung on the game.
and then look, again, at the final score.
this is more rhetorical than anything else.
point is, the line was supposed to tell us something prior to the above meeting. fsu proceeded to get embarrassed.
i think fsu wins this game fairly comfortably though on saturday. wake is extremely overrated. grobe is a fantastic coach. but theyre not a great team. just very efficient.

The line is right. No way FSU was going to open up as a home dog or else the public would pound them, especially against a team like WF. Money is pretty even according the site I look at. Home field is huge in college. I would have FSU at around a 4 point favorite at home against a team like East Carolina also, and they're ranked higher than WF. Rankings mean nothing. Wake Forest is the better team, but no way should they be favored on the road against FSU.

Wake is a best play and I bankrolled them +4.5

FSU has nothing on the OL, a mediocre secondary, no depth, no coaching, and a rookie qb...AND WAKE IS GETTING POINTS! Hello...McFly?!?

If anything FSU is the team that's overrated. They have played two teams that are basically high-school equivalents. Meanwhile Wake has played two decent teams (beat Ole Miss at their worst) and beaten both. Wake has revamped their running game during the off-week and I expect the OL to pick it up this game.

Anybody claiming FSU has no coaching deserves to have their post deleted from the thread. Seriously, that's just a retarded comment.

Not saying FSU will win, but they are by far the more talented team. And they're playing at home. At night. With their first decent, well-coached QB since Weinke.

Call me a homer, but provided Ponder doesn't crumble under the pressure of the spotlights (he shouldn't, he's a very composed kid), FSU should surprise people this year. It starts Saturday night.

they dont have a coach, bowden is just an old man who walks the sidelines...

it's a fact not an opinion

he does nothing except decide on a 2pt conversion and go for it on 4th down

he is in the same boat as joe pa

i like both of them and respect what they do or should i say did

i know of 3 guys who have played for joe pa and 2 who have played for bowden

they all have said it was awesome to have played under a legend but when it comes to coaching they are a joke now

and for the 2 who played for bowden, they said the program is a joke as well, all the players are treated as if they can do no wrong and that the program does nothing but hype and drive you to becoming a great individual performer, all they want is to flood the nfl with players. this is why they play more for themselves than as a team. this is why they lose now. fsu players do not respect bowden as a coach but they do respect him as a person. they play to make highlights and get an nfl pay check

Haven't seen Ponder play thus far but everything I read is that hes a major upgrade from Drew. I'm personally not playing this here game, gun to the head though I'll go Noles, for they not Wake has more overall talent and are at home.

disagree with the fact that fsu wins comfortably in fact i don't think they win at all, i do agree with wake having a better coach, better discipline, and being more efficient. i think that'll be the difference in the end, give me an efficient quaterback with plenty of experience, better special teams and 4-4.5 points and i'll play them consistently. good luck to everyone as this should be a good game to watch.

This looks very one-sided

Bowden is a front man. Jimbo (Offensive coordinator for the 2003 National Champion LSU Tigers - remember him?) is running that offense, and to say they don't have a coach is rediculous. They may have played 2 crap teams, but who has Wake played? What makes you feel so confident about Wake? (previous years)

This is a different team from the past. They are spreading the ball around, well balanced, and have a QB that is no joke. I know every trend points to Wake, but screw trends! I think this is the year the trends start to turn...

I cant get over the FSU defenders. Did any of you see FSU play last year? What about this team is different besides Ponder, who cant be considered an upgrade yet bec he has NO EXPERIENCE.

FSU technically may have more talent but I'll take a boatload of committed 5th year seniors over that motley crew in Tally all day. They have humilated deeper and better FSU teams in the last two years and now they are getting points. I'm all over that.
