In college... I helped out with the baseball team... one afternoon, I took a nap and then woke up groggily to go to practice. We were in the batting cage inside a building with me putting the baseballs in the machine for our players.
As expected we had nets all around the batting cage except for the small square hole where the throwing machine shot out the balls.
A player hit a ball on the floor straight, but it bounced back up directly through the damn hole. I had zilch time (probably only had time to turn my head 1/8 of a second), and the ball hit my jaw dead-on.
I was already against a wall behind me and I immediately grabbed my face and withered down to the ground. Other players who were not completely deaf said they actually heard the impact.
My jaw was broken in 2 pieces, and my mouth was wired shut for 4 weeks.
Good times, :lolBIG:.
