i'm the onepostwonder that's been waiting for joewager (one of the line managers at vip - otherwise known as the theif of curacao) to answer the phone for the last 30 minutes so i can give the jerk some more of my money.

i'm also the onepostwonder that went through this last year with vip and ended up losing money because i couldn't place any bets and couldn't get access to my money.

i'm also the onepostwonder that normally doesn't have time for posting in forums...unfortunately, right now that's my only option.

and 'Anyone with some network knowledge' would have taken the appropriate steps to minimize the effects of a dos attack. just look at yahoo...they get a dos attack about every hour, but they seem to be able to always pop up in my browser...

hmm...some people never learn

Has anyone confirmed that this is related to the "Russian mafia" DOS attacks in 2001?

It's been mentioned a couple of times, but that's about it.

GetReal, you need to get a clue. Yahoo is connected to back bones in the states. We are talking about OC-48 here.

These hackers have at their disposal about 200 megabits of bandwidth.

200 mb can shut down all of the carribean, central and south america.

However, point that much bandwidth at an OC-48 and it's like a drop in the Atlantic ocean.

Common sense is the least common of the senses.

They come out of the walls like roaches. I just have to post some truth so that others here understand why Yahoo can stay up and offshores are simply out gunned.

I'm sure they will prevail in the long run but pipe vs pipe is a hard up hill battle.

If nothing else, the ISP's for some of the areas will be forced to spend the $$$$ and upgrade their hardware to prevent it in the future (you'd think.....).

I was doing a tracert on one site & actually saw some Level 3 fiber show up down there...THAT is surprising!!
