Brett Favre - QB - Jets Vikings already have Favre under contract?
PFT then tried confirming it with a source who knows the situation for sure, and that person said only, "I will not deny it...I will leave it at that." It's possible Favre has already signed, but the Vikings are waiting to submit the contract to the NFL office. PFT also passes along another rumor that Reebok has already green-lighted the production of Vikings' No. 4 jerseys. June 21 - 3:42 p.m. ET

Brett Favre - QB - Jets Agent denies Favre already signed with Vikes
Profootballtalk contacted a source close to Favre's situation who wouldn't confirm or deny the tip. Agent Bus Cook is now flatly denying it, although he denies pretty much everything. Cook wrote "no contract" in an email to the St. Paul Pioneer Press Sunday evening. Vikings officials have not addressed the rumor that Reebok is already poised to produce purple No. 4 jerseys. So it was just a coincidence that the gray-haired drama queen only used the word "we" 5-10 times while talking to Joe Buck last Monday night while discussing the Vikings? Minnesota will regret ever getting near this guy, but that's a good thing, right?

As a Bears fan, YES.

call me crazy... I think the Viks benefit with addition of Farve. All Day AP in the backfield and a vet like Farve using playaction? Seems like a good combo. Have always thought Farve was over-rated... but I am not a hater. The guy is a football player. If he wants to play, I look fwd to it. I defy you to honestly say that you think Farve in a purple jersey playing at GBay is a game you wouldn't be interested in. Isn't that the point of being a fan of the game? Would you prefer seeing Tarvis play for any reason?

t jack's final 4 games, 8 TD 1 INT.

what did you expect, an all pro over night?

farve aint going to do shit if he comes here.

So maybe that would be a good introduction to the rest of Jackson's career, because that guy will never be anything but lousy, no matter what kind of lukewarm 4-game streak he gets on.

If the Vikings don't find a real quarterback they'll never be more than a first-round playoff team at best. Favre isn't the answer, Jackson sure isn't. I doubt it's Sage Rosnefels either.

Why the hell would I call you crazy? Minnesota boy here born and raised and am passionate about my vikings and I would put money on the fact that they will be better with favre behind center.

I can't wait until you eat those words. You will probably try and spin it however he does and say that T Jack would have done better or something.

Let's set the criteria right now. At the end of the season what makes favre a successful addition and what would deem that he hasn't done "shit?"

No. 1--you know he already has alienated many of the present Vikings by skipping all off-season activities, which started his decline in GB. He hates to practice. All he wants to do is play.
Do you think Jared Allen is going to keep his mouth shut when Favre shows up a month before the regular season and then has a couple of bad games. No way.
No. 2--Favre is going to be 40 in October. You have to be crazy to think he will be able to play an entire schedule effectively. You have to lift and run year-round now to play in the NFL. Favre was running like an old man at the end of last season, and there is nothing wrong with his legs--besides being 39 years old and having been through the meat-grinder of the NFL for 17 years.
No. 3--Favre will want to run the show. No one since Holmgren has been able to control him, and his best years were with Holmgren. You think Childress has the balls to rip into him when he unleashes one of his 40-yard bombs into coverage?
No. 4--Once Favre is there, he will not quit. He admitted he was hurting the Jets at the end of last year, but he still went out and played. If he is bad--which I believe he will be--how can they put Jackson in there to replace him?
As a Packer fan, I sincerely hope Favre is a Viking. The Vikings will be walking into a media circus, and a mutiny is on the horizon.

They also had ex-Packer Darren Sharper, but I see they got rid of him.
Minnesota is the Packers' landfill.

Favre Report Confirmed
Posted by Mike Florio on June 23, 2009, 10:02 p.m. EDT

I love the smell of vindication in the morning. [UPDATE: It’s morning somewhere.]

It smells like Febreze.

Mark Rosen of WCCO reports that, indeed, the Vikings and quarterback Brett Favre have agreed to terms on a contract, and that Favre will attend training camp.

Unless, you know, he doesn’t.

Rosen also confirms our report that purple jerseys bearing Favre’s number and name already have been ordered.

From our perspective, there was no doubt about it. Though the manner in which it came to us was unusual, the point was that a source in position to know the truth thereafter told us, “I can’t tell you anything, but I will not deny it either, and I’ll leave it at that.”
