What percentage of total money wagered can a small book (20 clients)expect to win? Lets say using -110 odds, and money lines similar to bet365. Obviously the action is often uneven on each contest.

There is no correct answer to this question man, but you are probably going to make money if it makes you feel any better. Dont get greedy because greed is what will kill you in this business.

thanks for the replies... not sure why its an idiotic question considering that percentage appears to be the lifeblood of the industry... Im sure everyone knows what their numbers are...

I assume "dont get greedy" does not suggest laying off to secure even action on both sides?

No it means keep you players on a leash because once they lose more than they can afford they usually end up stiffing. Also it means dont book more than you can handle because the players will have winning weeks and you will be expected to pay.

You dont want even action on both sides, you want the side your players are on to lose. The vig is what gives the house the edge but its not your bread and butter.

I have read that the avg. Joe loses 20-25 units during football season. So a $100 player loses 2k-2.5k. Lots of assumptions in that avg. though.
