LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- Viagra may help a man's intimacy, but researchers say evidence is proving that the little blue pill, and others like it, could cause hearing loss.
UK researchers surveyed drug watchdogs in the U.S. and other parts of the world and uncovered 47 cases of sudden hearing loss linked to anti-impotence drugs, the Daily Mail is reporting.
Another 223 possible reports from the U.S. had to be excluded due to lack of detail, according to the Daily Mail.
It wasn't clear how long the hearing loss lasted.
A new U.S. study also finds that taking Viagra could double your chances of hearing loss, Reuters reports. Researchers found that one in three men over the age of 40 who took Viagra suffered hearing loss while only one in six of those not taking the drug suffered the same fate.
Scientists suspect a chain of chemical reactions caused by the drugs could be harming the inner ear.
The FDS has warned about possible hearing complications associated with Viagra and other anti-impotence drugs for a few years.
