Yes indeed; He was a credit to the sport he coved and loved. The girls will miss him too. Word had it, he got along "well" with the ladies.

I caught his emotional farewell to CFB yesterday. I was touched and I'm sure he would be a joy to have for a drink and dinner but I was a hater and wished he had retired about 5 years or so ago.

Always thought he was good. His most memorable call probably the 86 masters final round of jack. Yes Sir!!

I guess we "country boys" are more sensitive (actually more aware) of the "extra-curricular activities" that some of those who are in high-profile
surroundings, especially those in the coaching world and the broadcast industry. Vern Lundquist was real "charmer" with the ladies and they loved him (the cuddly, teddy-bear) type......nothing wrong with that especially with the gals being such an important part of the fan-base which he knew.
Ol Vern knew what he was doing and he kept his nose-clean. Charlie Strong: He'll always have Louisville.

As far as "getting away from the farm", You're probably right (sdf); when you reach my age you sometimes can't see the tree's from the forest
and you lose sight of what is going on in the outside world, lot of which would probably scare me sh-tless.

Vern was definitely the voice of the SEC and College Saturday's. he'll be missed. But damn right, Keith Jackson was the standard!

Wonder if he will still be on #16 at the Masters - Gotta think that assignment is cake and oh to be inside the ropes at Augusta
