Tsonga and his big frame will be sweating bullets in the 90+ heat in Melbourne. The match is scheduled after two ladies quarters (which commence at 11:00am) so the men should get on court at perhaps 3:00 in the afternoon.

Take away the heat factor and I still like the Spaniards chances. He is playing perhaps the best tennis of his career and appears to have gotten past his mental breakdowns.

I'll take the +165ish.

Don't know what having the "ali thing" has to do with him being victorious against Verdasco. And even if you somehow believe Tsonga won't be at a disadvantage fitness wise you should also be aware Tsonga has been dealing with a bulging disc in his back recently. I've watched a couple of his matches in this tourney and I've seen him reaching for it several times. Obviously not bothering him enough now but we'll see. Just another factor. I think its crazy for him to be established as such a firm favorite here.

Injured Tsonga in doubt for Open start

1/16/09 10:03 AM | Johan Lindahl
- The fitness race is on with three days to go until the start of the Australian Open and 2008 finalist Jo-Wilfried is stuck in bed trying to rest a back injury.

The surprise of the 2008 edition at Melbourne Park was forced to pull out before his Sydney quarter-final against Jarkko Nieminen and has been advised by doctors to stay still to try and cure a bulging disc problem in his back.

The injury started getting worse this week, and left his participation in the Open starting on Monday left in serious doubt.

"I will take some rest and I will see how I feel in maybe two days," said the disappointed player. "I'll stay in my bed, and I hope I will be better after."

He has reached for it and I feel if someone tests him in a longer match and steps up to him. I like his game better than Tabasco sauce's though.

Tsonga is all flashy , if Verdasco can bring many balls back it will frustrate Tsonga .

They closed the roof , I believe it will be easier now for Tsonga to play . Tough one , I will bet on this one during the match at betfair . Lean on Verdasco to keep it close .
