Got off to a nice start, and the Books, are somewhat behind on the lines that they are giving out.

YTD 6-3 +10 units. (1 unit = $500)

Boston College -14.5 Betting 4 units

This will be Loyola, MD's 3 game in 4 nights. LMD is coached by Mike Jarvis, who was run out of St. Johns for doing what coaches are run out of schools do, Losing. BC will have Star Guard Tyreese "Buttercup" Reece back after sitting out a one game suspension for doing who knows what.

FYI - Mike Jarvis is head coach at Florida Atlantic. Jimmy Patsos is in his fifth year at Loyola Maryland.

Yes, you are right. I meant that line about Mike Jarvis to be in my second pick:

Arizona -19 4 units

Florida Atlantic is coached by St. John's cast-off Mike Jarvis, who is only guilty of destroying a fine hoops program. FA's fan support averages less than 700 for home games. They should feel right at home in McKale center.

So vegas you seem pretty confident on both those two games to be putting 4 units down. I was thinking about doing boston college.

One more small play:

St. Mary's -21 1 unit.

Those Fresno St. Bulldogs have lost all of their Bark by now, and return only 5 letterman from a team that's was not so good anyway. The Gael's are dominating as usual this year, and are almost unbeatable in their little pit.

CS Northridge +11 Bet 4 units

As is the case with fading hoops programs, the Books sometimes overvalue the lines they give out when favoring them. Case in point is this years Stanford Cardinal hoops team. The Lopez twins are long gone, and Trent Johnson left for LSU, as he was tired of battling the admissions department to get the players he needed to compete into his program-3 of his 5 star recruits in 2 years were denied admission, despite them having the requisite GPA's and SAT's. When that happens, its time to move on. Now Johnny Dawkins, one of Coach K's many gofers, gets to try his hand against a Cagy Coach Braswell, who has a fair amount of height, and a veteren backcourt to work with.

USF +14.5 Betting 4 units.

USF and California have played each other 75 times in a long standing Bay Area rivalry. Former Kansas standout Rex Walters is the latest coach to join the USF coaching carousel, and inherits 3 solid players in Dior Lowhorn (20.5 PPG), Blake Wallace (12.3) and Manny Quezadada (13.9). Cal will be missing their top PF in 6'10 Taylor Harrison. I'm taking the points mainly due to the fact that I've personally watched these two teams play over the years and the games are always close, and, I'd like to think that some of Roy Williams and Larry Browns coaching acumen has rubbed off on Walters.

YTD 8-6 +9 Units.

Took the day off yesterday. Love the card today and decided to pull the trigger on 8 plays, though 2 are small one unit jobs.

Cal Poly SLO +4 4 units 1 unit = $500
Vandy -6 4 units
UCLA -9 4 units
Memphis -23 2 units
Washington -20 3 units
Seton Hall +9 3 units
Iowa -9 1 unit
Arkansas -11 1 unit

Why RICE would be laying points to anybody is anyone's guess. No Offense specialist Ben Braun who was run out of Cal, has the helm at Rice. Vandy @Home is always tough for yet another "Beg-10" team that can't hit the broad side of a barn. Memphis is laying a ton, but Tenn Chattanoga, is giving up over 100 PPG this year on "D". The line could be covered twice over by the half. USC lost most of their O when OJ Mayo jumped to the pros, and Seton Hall usually starts the season strong. Arkansas is more of a fade of my favorite type of school to fade: any school with UC in front of it. It's something like 75-50 over the years ATS. Iowa is likewise a fade of any Military School, (63% ATS) except my beloved Air Force Academy, my Alma Mater.

Are you worried about Cal Poly's Offense at all? 40 points in their first game. They shot the ball terrible and I can't imagine them shooting as bad tonight against Rice, but Rice looked good against Portland State (who is not that bad right now with their star player Dominguez). I understand if you feel Rice should not be favored and is not the play tonight, but I can't see how you feel that Cal Poly is a play, and not just a pass on the game.

Not good. Have to talk a long look at some of the plays I made, and maybe rethink these "play against" bets I like to make. Still, for the year, I'm even, and showing a tiny profit. I have several plays I'll post in a bit.
