Vegas is finsihed

I agree.

Vegas has more rooms ( 100k+) than any other US city ( I think), and is in the middle of nowhere. A 5-6 hour drive from LA/SD, little to the North, and a good distance from Phoenix and Texas. LV relies on people flying there mainly.

The gaming sucks, the shows/restaurants are pricey. The old visitors will start to not go there/die off. The newbies will go once.

It looks bleak for LV in coming years, IMO.

What the Hell can you do there for work now, with construction dead and casinos hurting ? Wal-Mart ? The two main things there are dead.

Vegas may become the next Detroit.

Aren't there even more hotels yet still being built? So what does Vegas do with all the capacity? Reduce prices to attract people or raise prices to increase revenue?

Vegas isn't dead, but they're going to have to knock some places down and reduce prices too.

I don't understand. Where is the gaming better?

Can anyone get that rate? Your name is on the offer.

Gaming is pretty much equal in many places.

I don't know if "anyone" can get that rate. I've stayed at MGM before, several times, but never gave them much action, didn't even use the club card when playing, so I think this offer is pretty much open to all, not like they want me ( in particular) back, because I lost 5 figures there, they just happen to have my email.

I don't see why they wouldn't give that rate to you.

Harrahs and Stations have just sent me offers for anywhere from three days to up to a week free, depending on when on the calendar, at most any of their properties. I gave both nonimal action this past month when there. Vegas was dead except for LA weekend warriors, and it was the last week before Labor Day & school for most of the country, aka last getaway vacation weekend for parents, and of the people there, table action was down except for Friday and Saturday night.

Echelon was announced grounded to halt while there, Trump was bemoaning that Nationwide's fallout/credit sector was delaying their closing on 200 units, etc..

City Center and Encore appeared the main two that were still on track, yet even Wynn was very empty and quiet in action and numbers.

LV's hurting!

Still is $90 on Fri/Sat at a quality strip LV hotel. MGM isn't the IP. So all are down.

Will they pay you $20 a night to stay at Circus Circus soon ?

Seems like casino management has been busy for years running these properties right into the ground chasing the "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" idiot crowd and ignoring everyone else, now its paying off. Like the financial companies, they badly managed their stuff, but for a few years it incresed profits, so it looked good. Now time to pay the piper. The people who paid the ripoff prices to party are broke and can't come back. The other crowds that came to Vegas like gamblers are sick of the Vegas rip-off prices/games and have moved on.

The casinos look the same, have the same bad games low comps and high prices. Not much reason to visit unless you enjoy inhaling the smoke of the degenerates who still smoke in public. Disgusting.

Vegas wasn't there for the 1st Great Depression, but will be there for the next one.

A whole lot of empty rooms,in this over-built city, seems likely, IMO.

This Has Been Coming For A Long Time

Wynn, Trump, the guy thst owns the Venetian?, will be killed. Overbuilt, overpriced, maybe it'll get back to something close to the old days, NOT! And if the ecological changes occur that are on the horizon (Colo river) running @ record lows. It WILL run out of water. Bugsy's dream may once again be just that. I fell sorry for the average guy who moved his whole family there and is now facing real hard times. If they haven't already started, there will be layoffs in the service sector. I saw it in it's glory days, 60's 70's early 80's, the pussy mecca of the Western World, back then. Did I ever tell you about the school teacher from Omaha?

The "Winners Tax" will probably do in all gambling..Why should you get to keep a jackpot or a powerball winning when others dont have the opportunity to win it? To be "Fair" your winnings should be distributed among the least fortunate so that we all have the same chances in life whether we work for them or not.
