What is the point of making a bet like this? If you have 50k to throw around, what difference is $500 gonna make?

Bettor puts up $50,000 to win $500 on Warriors

On Tuesday afternoon, hours before heavily-favored Golden State tipped off with Utah, the Westgate SuperBook had taken just one bet on the Warriors to beat the Jazz in the seven-game series -- a $50,000 bet at -10,000 odds.

If Golden State prevails, the risk-taker will net a profit of $500. To repeat, that's $50,000 to $500.

The Jazz were as much as 20-1 underdogs to eliminate the Warriors, the outright favorites to win NBA championship.

Golden State is a 13-point favorite tonight in Game 1 at ORACLE Arena. The Jazz beat the Warriors 105-99 at ORACLE on April 10, ending an eight-game losing streak to Golden State. But neither team was at full strength in that late regular-season meeting.

A bettor at Las Vegas sportsbook operator CG Technology put $576,000 on Golden State to win tonight's game straight-up. The bet would net $36,000.
There are some Utah believers, though. In fact, 90 percent of tickets on the odds to win the series at William Hill's Nevada sportsbook were on the Jazz, the largest a $200 bet at 20-1 that would net $4,000.

Another bettor at William Hill chose the opposite strategy and bet $200 on the Warriors to win the series at -7,000 odds. Their bet would net $2.85.

From an EV standpoint that's not a good bet. Curry ankle sprain and Durant vaginal infection and he is in trouble.

When someone has that much to best on one game they must have done a lot of things right, so who are we to judge?
