Well Bourn. 10-15k might not move the NFL line but it will move the NBA line, the MLB line, the NHL line, the NCAAB line. Sides can move on 2 limit bets, totals 1 limit bet is enough to change the number.

Yeah, come to think about it I talked to a guy in Encore sportsbook that places 8k on a NBA side middle of the week that afterwards I saw the line move 1 1/2 I believe. I just always thought 50k would need to be layed to love a line. But yeah you're right.

Last time I was in Vegas I bet 10K on a college game and it seemed like a larger wager than they were used to at MGM. It hit and the guy said "nice hit" when cashing and asked if I knew anything about the game.

That's the 2nd time in my experience after a win of that amount a guy asked that. I don't bet 10K very often so don't want to think I'm saying I'm a high roller and I only gamble when in Vegas anymore. Offshore for me isn't worth the hassle. Nor do I win enough

Up to 10k tax free in Vegas makes sense completely

It also depends on who is placing the bet. If a regular guy put a limit bet on a MLB game they might not move it but when there were runners betting if one bet they knew they are going to get more on that game so they would move the line. Totals are even more crazy. I bet $500 on a Baseball total and they moved it 15 cents. Another time I wanted a bet on a NBA total they told me they would let me have 3x the limit(that is back when the Chinaman's totals were a big thing). Then there are times when the limit on totals is $500 and they would only take $200. Now I just ask "what will you take?". I have seen some places have different limits on NFL sides weekdays vs weekends, 20k/40k.

For what it's worth. a couple days ago, made my first sports bet in a Delaware book for 1 dime. It showed on the little bet screen: approval required. There was no one behind me waiting to bet so they weren't busy. But the girl that took my bet estimated age 35 to 45, just took the bet and wished me food luck. She didn't go for approval... I think it must be if the see you cashing tickets... then maybe they play the approval game... No idea actually. I was surprised to see the words even on the screen for that amount.

Limits depend on the sport. The Stations casinos limit on the NBA is 5k on sides, 1k on totals, 2k on money lines. On the NFL 20k on sides, 3k on totals and 10k on money lines. If you bet with chips or winning tickets there won't be any problem. You will draw some attention if you bet cash (10k in cash in 24 hours and they will need to see some ID). Also they don't like you to do more than 1 limit bet. Even after they move the line some big bettors will ask if it is okay to hit the game again. Most will bet it at another place. You can bet thousands per day with winning tickets and the only difference between you and a $10 bettor is you get more drink tickets.

$1k limit on nba totals? that's pretty weak.

Did they require your ID?

My experience is any time $10,000 crosses the counter they require ID and legally have to report it. Not for tax purposes but I guess laundering purposes.

And it doesn't matter how. You can bet a -400, $8,000 to win $2,000. If it wins, they will ID you you when you collect the $!0,000.

Better to visit a couple books and fly under the radar.

They didn't I bet $10,000 to win 9890 or whatever the total was and it hit. They did have a supervisor watch him count after it hit though.

After that bet a couple $5,000 wagers but one lost, 1 hit but didn't seem as big of a deal but same thing a supervisor watched the one that cashed.

Thank you.

That is very different from my experience.

My experience has been The Hilton, Mandalay Bay, and I think Treasure Island. Also MGM Grand.

On one ticket? They let you bet the 10g's on a single ticket and no ID?

by the way, I am not hassling you, I am trying to learn something.

2 $5,000 tickets but the same team/game. I bet it and said I want to double my wager so 2 tickets but within 15 seconds of each other, no ID check.

No hassle at all, ask away. I'm no Vegas expert or regular I'm there maybe once every 2 years.

That would put each ticket below the $10,000 threshold which would account for not needing to present an ID.

My experience has been very different. I have doubled up bets but they forced me to place on one ticket. Literally augmenting the original ticket by adding my second bet to it.

They ask for ID if you bet 10k "CASH" in a 24 hour period. You can use casino chips or bet off of winning tickets and they won't ask you for anything. Same for table games. You can move chips back and forth and no one really cares, bet cash and you get their attention.

When they ask for ID that is just information they pass on to the Nevada Gaming commission. The IRS can look at that information there.
