I was just out in Las Vegas for a week. I stayed at a couple hotel/casinos, one on the strip, the other off the strip. In both places, as well as other casinos I visited, the smokey air hits you like a wave in the face when you walk through the doors. Being from Florida, a smoke-free state, I definately wasn't used to this. My nose was running almost immediately, and from smoke and arid climate, I had to sleep with the shower running all night long to act as a humidifier. I couldn't even walk into a normal restaurant without having to deal with smoke. I went into an Outback Steakhouse and it was the same thing...nasty, smokey, stale air. They have words to describe this. "Gross" is one of them.

You must be VERY sensitive (so am I) or, maybe you were not spending much time in the real quality places.

Their filtration is pretty good I think in the best places on the strip.

Now don't get me wrong...

Smoking is a filthly, sh!tty, nasty, vile (and deadly) habit.

IT SHOULD BE ILLIGAL in any public place. No doubt... CASE CLOSED!

SOOO much lobby money for the shitty weeds that it will never be outlawed, no matter how many people they murder!

But, if you go to Vegas, you just have to hope for the best ventilation possible. Drinking and smoking just are part of gambling to most people. Of course the casinos would not do anything to slow people down in the quest to blow junior's college fund!

People should only be allowed to smoke in their own private home and never be allowed to open a window!

I am sorry for using the "R" word - and NOTHING EL

the peppermill (across from stardust) went non-smoking. they heavily advertised it. they are now back to smoking - for i sense their biz fell so far and fast they had no choice but to re-allow smoking.

i agree vegas is gross this way - but how about hawaii! that state is gorgeous. they take all this care to keep their beaches and water pristine. yet allow smoking all over the place - and we all know the ONLY reason they do it is because of the asians that flock to HI. asians - in general - smoke more than (or almost as much) as any other race/nationality. if hawaii banned smoking - the asians would stop coming - and hawaii is smart enough to know they get a TON of business from the japanese flying to/from the mainland - and stopping in Hi for a few days. if hawaii banned smoking - the asians would bypass HI - and the impact would be ENORMOUS!

Having lived in Vegas for 17+ years and now living in Florida the last 2+ years, I know precisely what you are talking about.

Stopped going to Vegas due to the smoke. Had always gone for 2 or 3 days went for a week last Summer, the effects of the smoke were unbereable after the 4th day. I would literaly go to the casino floor for 20 minutes run outside for 10 to catch a breath then go back in. My clothes after I got back were pungent with the smell of tabbaky. Cost me $60 in dry cleaning bills to get the smell and still they reeked. Getting sprayed by a Skunk would have been easier to get the smell out. On the floor all I thought off was Auswitch (no disrespect intended) Second hand smoke suppose to give you cancer quicker than working in a nuclear power plant next to Homer.

I HATE SMOKERS!!!

Wouldn't even consider dating a girl who smoked, glad i found a wife who is as adimant about it as i am.

Think it got engrained in me as a kid as both parents smoked and the shti made me sick, they both got smart and quit years ago now, but what a nasty habit, not sure how people get started to begin with.

No thanks Elvis Fry ...

I wouldn't be caught dead in the areas you used to hang out in. If you sleep with dogs pal you are bound to catch a few "fleas."

I love to smoke....and hate non-smokers. I live to roll my own or enjoy it filtered in water.
here is a little joke...
There's a stoner and a super genius sitting on a bench waiting on a bus. The genius gets bored, leans over to the stoner and says, "Hey I'll tell you what, I'll ask you a question and if you don't know the answer you have to give me five bucks. If you ask me a question and I don't know the answer I have to give you fifty bucks." The stoner says, "Alright, Man." The genius asks the stoner, "What is the Pythagorian Theory?" The stoner replies, "I don't know," and hands the genius five bucks. "Okay," the stoner says, "What has three legs going up a hill and four legs going down?" The genius thinks real hard and finally gives up. he hands the stoner fifty bucks and then asks, "So, what is the answer?" The stoner says, "I don't know," and hands the genius five bucks.

People in SoCal dont smoke unless they are dirtbags. Vegas has a large amount of white trash Jerry Springer types couple with asian tourists and nightclub type losers.

smokers kill more people than terroists and I consider them the same thing.

I quit playing cards because of the 2nd hand smoke. The Asians were the worst. In CA cardrooms they were smoking cigs dipped in opium. I should not know what that smells like, but do. And they chain them, lighting one off the other. I smoke my cigars outside of my home. I have a nice chair in front, and one on the patio. It is not that I have to, but out of consideration of my entire family. When I take my kids to the arcades in the clubs, that is the first thing they say. "Dad this place stinks like cigarettes." If you have gambling as a vice, alcohol and cigarettes just fit right in...OF

Most of the poker rooms in Vegas have gone to all non-smoking. I realize you need to walk through smoky casinos to get to them, but this is one gambling option for non-smokers.
