It is a shame that the RX bash is in August as there are some unbelievable prestige courses out at Lake Las Vegas designed by Jack Nicklaus and another by Tom Weiskopf. However in August the temp. will be 110 most likely but perhaps We should keep it in mind for another year.

Weekend fees for 18 holes is $ 260 I believe. Certainly a price that is very high but might actually save one $$ if you spend much time in the Casinos gambling !

Cheapest golf courses in VEGAS..........

CRAIG RANCH
MUNICIPAL
BOULDER CITY

Having said that, I would recommend you try Boulder City, nice little course and not as crowded as MUNI and much nicer than Craig Ranch.

Actually, August is optimal as they are 'giving it away' in Vegas with cheapo rates starting at noon to twilight.

My favorite course is Badlands, a beautiful target course in Summerlin by the Sun Coast.

In Mesquite, Wolf Creek is a spectacular course through Canyons.

If you play Badlands your going to need a bucket of balls. For value I like Legacy, and LasVegas National

Pete,

Supposedly the best course in Vegas right now is owned by the Park Place group and is called Cascada. Only way to get on is to play at their properties. There are two great courses at Primm designed by Fazio and the Pauite courses are excellent also.

max1234,

Thanks for the info. Maintenance fees must be crazy for some of these courses given their locaion. I hope the heat isnt bad for the Rx bash, I hate golfing in 100+ temps...With living on the Canadian West Coast that usually isn't an issue..lol

I have played countless rounds of golf in Vegas the trick is to get early tee-times, I mean 5:30 or 6 AM. You tee off it is cool, and get in before ten when the heat starts to get brutal. Don't be bashful about toking the starters for tee-times. Pick a course, visit the starter the day before and lay a good size toke on him if he can get you on the course early. Ya gotta let him know you will appreciate his help. What else is new - a little grease goes a long way. Of course you can be cheap, tee off at 11AM and die in the heat.

wil.

at Primm they spray paint the grass to make it look green. It looks like one of those Jap courses with brown fairways.

Rail,

I haven't played the putt-putt course you're talking about but the two courses controlled by the MGM have always been in great shape. I've played down there 5 times and enjoyed every round. The only time they aren't perfect is when they're doing their overseeding in Sept.

If you play golf here in Las Vegas in mid-afternoon August you'll pretty much be alone on the course except for a few coyote's following you around waiting for you to pass out.

Kyhawk- How many rounds of golf do you suppose we have played together on a mid-summers day in Vegas?

Well over 150 I would say............wow, what a waste of time.

Just to give everyone that doesn't live here an idea of the weather here in Vegas, the 7 day forcast is for temp from 100 today to up to 105 all week. Remember that this is just May 31 ! I suggest that We forget a golf tournament this year but plan on having one at a future bash during a cooler time of year. One can only guess how hot it will be in August !
