Sugarbear,
Firefly is worlds better than Bahama Breeze, which is nothing more than a chain restaurant.
For that matter, Firefly has Cafe Ba-ba-reeba beat by miles in the tapas department.
I took my sister and brother-in-law who are tapas aficionados and they couldn't stop raving about it.
I highly recommend Commander's Palace as well. It's in the Desert Passage shops in the Aladdin. Service and food second to none. They have great lunch specials as well at a fraction of the cost of dinner. I think they still have 25 cent martinis Mon-Thur. at lunch as well (up to four). It is in my top 3 restaurants in town and I will likely make it my Thanksgiving meal this year.
I am more than sure you are right on firefly, but when I run down a few places and get to Bahama Breeze they just jump. It hard to explain a tapas resturant to non foodie type people, but all understand carribean food, plus its different than the usual.
Its a great first date spot. They think you thought outside the box and are willing to take them to someplace on resturant row which is percieved to be expensive. It can be, but I know how to eat, so I dont think it is.
It scores Major Bonus points and also no matter what else happens you become the date standard all the other men have to live up too in the future.
Very few can compete with me in this catergory, since my average place to go is upscale for most. I am spoiled and I dont let things like I dont know someone stop me from taking them to nice places. I am only out half the money I spent if things dont work out.
If you know any JR Foodie want to be girls, throw a mention my way as I am sick of the dont know nothing types. Hard to explore when the people you are dating lack the education and or taste to explore things outside the box.
Thanks for the CM tip. I love to go to these places for lunch first before doing dinner. Its how I find out the good spots and you always get helpful tips from the staff as to where to sit etc. A subtle trick that impresses the ladies and they have no idea you scouted it out first.
