Whats so pathetic. Wouldn't the fair rule in a unique situation be for the rule to mirror baseball rules. Mirage is being fair to bettors that made their bet on a prediction of who the official winner of game 5 was. There hasn't been an official winner yet, unless you bet the 5 inning line. I had T.B. to win game not the 5 inning line. This game should have been delayed before the start of the 5th inning anyways.

the fair rule is what the rule is, being a world series game and having a bunch of donkeys betting should not change things.

Now this I disagree with. The rule is a bad rule and should be changed. However, it is clearly the rule and the books must follow their clear rules, even if baseball themselves had not.
Baseball followed their rules last night. It is a suspended game.

But it is interesting to think what might have happened, had the Rays not scored. Sounds like Bud might have made them sleep in the clubhouse and stay on call until it's okay to resume after the "delay."

Really, Selig should have changed the rules for the postseason. The rules should be that once a game is started, it can only be suspended until the completion of the game. No rainouts in the 3rd with one team up 3-1, no games called after 6 innings. Just suspend every game until it's completed. Who would ever say that wasn't fair?

They did, but as you said, Selig directly said that they were not going to. They were going to suspend the game and resume it whenever. He wasn't going to let it end 2-1 after 5 or 6. Would have created quite a controversy. Pena did baseball a real favor.

FYI - Fair & Rule aren't synonomous. When a rule is bad, than it becomes unfair.

Fair is irrelevant. Is it fair that a team leading 4-0 after three innings, like the Cards were on Opening Day this year....is it fair that they get washed out and have to start over? Of course it isn't fair. But it's a rule. And a rule is a law. Which means it must be followed at all times. Period.

I had no money on this game, but the rules have to be followed. If they aren't that bothers me. It's more important to be consistent and live up to the rules than it is to do what certain bettors think are fair or unfair.

There are penalties if you get caught doing those things, aren't there?
